This, of course, is why we have been reluctant selecting a Senator (or a member of Congress) as our nominee. There are track records that can be dug up and used and abused.

Things have changed. What made sense four or five or ten years ago does not now, with the usual 20/20 hindsight.

May I suggest that we do not dig these bits but concentrate on what the candidates say or do NOW and how they respond to challenges thrown at them now?

I admit, I opened DU a couple of hours ago and was faced with so many threads with the above title that I did not bother to open even one..

(At least, McCain has even longer history as a legislator and it is his constituents that harass him..)
