Clinton, Obama tied in North Carolina. Edwards' NC supporters split evenly
Obama 42%
Clinton 40%

One question asked if you supported Edwards before he dropped out the race. 48% said they did, indicating a surge for Edwards in his home state prior to him dropping out.

Among Democrats Hillary leads 42-40. Rethugs and indies give Obama a 62-25 advantage. Hillary leads with 3 among women, Obama by 9 among men. Obama has a whopping 67-19 lead among blacks with Hillary leading whites 48-31.

1. Wow, that's huge for Obama.
I didn't think he'd be this close to her this early.

2. Thanks for the link
I'm still wrapping my head over the fact that NC might be a very important state come May. Important enough to keep tracks of polls of it even! :D

(Obama will win here by the way. :P)

3. Our (NC) primary isn't until May...so much can change by then
While it'd be neat for our primary to actually matter, I kind of hope it's already decided by then.

5. Since we're on the topic of NC
we've got two Dem's trying to unseat Libby Dole
when everyone needs a break from giving cash to Clinton & Obama
Jim Neal & Kay Hagen both good Dems in need of some of that political oxygen that's in scares supply for those down ticket races.

But back to the OP, there were a lot of people travelling down to SC to help out Obama. Not surprised he's doing well here.

7. If it's this close now, it's probably a solid win for Obama.
The general trends in every primary so far is that as the date gets close, Obama gains and Hillary drops. Her name recognition accounts for a lot in the general public, and as people get to know the other candidates, that chips away at that name recognition.

Of course, supertuesday could have changed that dynamic - I find it hard to conceive that Obama doesn't have almost the same name recognition as Hillary by now, despite her having a 12 year head start on him.

Just have to wait until May, and see.

8. great news.
he's doing well in NC already. Of course it's unlikely that a May primary will count, but thanks for the good news.
