GOV. TED STRICKLAND (OH) AND GOV. ED RENDELL (PA) ENDORSE HILLARY CLINTON
I know these endorsements are old, but maybe not to the Obama supporters. This is for their enjoyment. Rock on.

1. Good for Sen. Clinton. I don't think anyone doubts that she'll win
these two. The odds are certainly in her favor. But I'll bet they won't be blowouts.

Why shout these endorsements out in all caps as though it just happened? Feels like propaganda!

21. Posting these now
because of the primaries in coming up in Ohio and PA. These endorsements may be old, but carry a big wallop in the up-incoming primaries. Go Hillary!!

7. Fast Eddie doesn't have the following in Philadelphia that he once had.
At least not in my neck of the woods.

People are pretty unhappy with how "slot machines at racetracks" morphed into the state shoving entire casinos down the city's throat.

Then there have been some not very liberal or principled actions taken by the state, such as recently disallowing information on dairy products about whether the cows were given artificial growth hormone.

Yeah, Eddie and Willie do seem to share some core principles. Let's see, encourage making money at the expense of the disadvantaged so you can cover a budget shortfall while promising to lower taxes (principle: "anything to win"); restrict information to the public rather than expanding access to information (principles: "what the peons don't know won't hurt us"; "give the corporations what they want").

Ed Rendell's endorsement will only go so far in PA. It probably helps a little, but there are others that matter more.

may be her VP choice. It wasn't well received in OH. Strickland just started and our state is a mess from years of Republican corruption.

Frankly, with all the problems in Ohio's economy, Strickland has been a little disappointing in his ideas. Here's his latest (WHY?)

Strickland plan offers high school seniors free year of college

By Stephanie Irwin Gottschlich | Wednesday, February 6, 2008, 03:55 PM

Eric Fingerhut

Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland sent a message to Ohio high schools and public colleges and universities on Wednesday that they need to start working together to improve college readiness.

Building on an existing program that enables high school students to earn both high school and college credits simultaneously, Strickland unveiled a plan for high school seniors to complete the first year of college during their senior year on a University System of Ohio campus. Tuition would be free.

With a full year of college credit under their belts, the students would graduate high school and start college as sophomores.

Strickland shared the plan, called Seniors to Sophomores, in his state-of-the-state speech in Columbus as part of several initiatives for reforming Ohio’s educational pipeline. On the K-12 end, he proposed stripping power from the Ohio Board of Education to create more straight-line accountability. You can read about that at my colleague Scott Elliott’s K-12 blog, Get On the Bus.

11. I'm for Obama, but I like Rendell
and so do most Pennsylvanians.

I really don't see how Obama can win PA. His best chance is to try to get it within 8% or thereabouts so he can pick up some delegates.

25. You just don't get it
Rendell endorsed Clinton in January-numbnut. It doesn't matter when the endorsements came, its relevant to say Clinton has the support of both governors. Looks like PA will play a "big" role, I hope Clinton gets at least 150 delegates.

17. These are both old, why scream it to the world in all caps?
It just looks desperate seeing supporters of one candidate scream it out like that. I mean how would you react if you saw someone post a topic title "SEN. ED KENNEDY (MA) ENDORSES OBAMA" today, over a week after it happened?

didn't have their primary yet--that's why these endorsements are still very relevant. Boy, are you dense.

29. Some people on DU need reminding that there are many newbies to this political race.
With Ohio and Pennsylvania primaries coming up, it is relevant if those newbies have not been paying very close attention.

Calling someone a jerk and other various and sundry names is a kneejerk reaction of thin-skinned people who view everything through the prism of their candidate and cannot fathom that someone would want to post positive news about another candidate. Try to understand that it's not always about you or your candidate. If Barack wins the nomination, you can have the GD forum pretty much all to yourselves, because the rules will not allow anyone to speak ill of the nominee.
