What Shuster Should Have Said--post suggestions here
Edited on Sat Feb-09-08 10:02 AM by cgrindley
There are many ways to get the same sentiment across with being misogynistic. Here's mine:

Chelsea, stumbled around the hustings with all the charm and effectiveness of one of George Romero's animated, brain-eating corpses.

2. He had already made his point
and Bill Press had already rebutted it. He should have moved on to another subject, but it was obvious he was trying to get the insult in and score a cheap political point.

God forbid these idiots talk about something real, like issues. I hope he ends up in the unemployment line.

3. He stated the truth
yeah--he should have used different terms for it but the man is being hung out to dry because he asked a legitimate question.

7. No. He did not. He stated editorial content. it was not "news" it was a biased
suggestion that somehow when Clintons do the normal phone calling of voters--it is evil.

That is not the truth. That is not news. That is simply more distorted attacks against the Clintons.

4. "Chelsea Clinton continues the political tradition of phoning voters
before the primary. Rather, however than receiving a call from an unknown volunteer, many were treated to a call from the Senator's daughter."

To suggest a nefarious meaning to the "news" it becomes editorial content and not news. Schuster has lost all credibility as a serious journalist when he shows his bias as he attempts to jump on the MSNBC attack Clinton bandwagon.

6. I agree Schuster could have worded himself better but it is something how quick NBC was to suspend
David who is certainly not known to be a conservative by any means and how long and difficult it is for them and other networks to ever suspend or fire a conservative for what they say. Hell, MSNBC allows Tom Delay on their network and he should be in prison. Hell, Morning Joe allows Limbaugh on and look at the things he says. Schuster, one time mis-worded and they cannot just accept a apology and have to suspend him, give me a break.

15. Yeah, he is... and I'm an Obama supporter
Ted Kennedy is a public figure. He can be criticized, questioned, castigated. His motives can be questioned, his integrity impugned, his statements analyzed and dissected.

YOU CANNOT DO THAT TO A FAMILY MEMBER.

That's why it's a cheap god damn tactic. And I don't care which side does it, it makes me go freaking crazy.

10. Friday Keith
At least Keith offered a kick ass hyper-apology......

I think Schuster's humor talents are....worse than average and he should play it totally straight on camera. He steps on his dick when he ventures into the humor zone.

13. I agree
Schuster is an excellent reporter but terrible pundit. I think he was getting carried away with his increased role at MSNBC. He's said other ridiculous things about Obama. It's ironic that some who are now so angry at him were gleefully posting the bad things he said about Obama.

Schuster is around all the other pundits who are quick on their feet and I think he wanted to fit in.

As you said, he needs to leave the humor alone.

11. Nothing: there was never an issue here
The adult candidates of children (Kate Edwards, the Romney boys) do the same thing Chelsea does. There was no story, nothing to talk about. It was an unprovoked slur and another case of double-standardism for the Clintons.

Disclosure: I am an Obama supporter.

12. I finally get....
why so many republicans are choosing to support Obama, IF, they can't have Huckabee. The Obama campaign, and it's supporters just keep getting more, and more bizarre. As evidence by his support among repugs, and just like them, it seems the naive ideology of Obama suportefs has completely overwhelmed any sense of logic they may have possessed. Sad. Thanks.
