I don't see how Clinton can run without Obama on the ticket
and win. I just don't see it. She's not going to be able to draw in indies, and she has trouble with men, and could have trouble with African American voters. She knows she energizes repukes like literally nothing else. I think she has trouble winning without Obama on the ticket. In fact I'm not sure she can do it.

10. There are men who won't vote for women..( I live in their neighborhood)
and that my friends, is the reason we are in the mess we are today..They staunchly support GWB and have bumper stickers to prove it..makes me sick.

5. Maybe they are. Maybe they're not. Hillary Clinton
is NOT the right person to use as proof of that.

6. Will men EVER be ready for a woman President?
Edited on Sat Feb-09-08 11:15 AM by terrya
I guess we could make the point that white America isn't ready for an African-American President.

I'm sorry, but I think America is ready for both.

9. I'd Vote For Barbara Boxer In A Nano-Second, But...
Since I'm not a big fan of Hillary's, I will not vote for her simply because she is a woman.

I will vote for her in the GE if it comes to that, but I'm supporting Obama for a myriad of reasons.

OTOH - The Democratic Party will be making history in either case.

14. I don't either, ZinZen.. just a personal preference. He is the leader we need now, for America
and the world. Clinton's need to be somewhere OTHER than the WH.

8. she might not win with obama on the ticket
independents aren't going to vote for her over Mccain just because Obama is on the ticket as VP. Men aren't going to.

The only way she wins is if she picks up 100% of the female democratic vote and 30% of the female republican vote.

16. about the "she has trouble with men..."
Like Obama is the ONLY man out there she could select???

Seriously, I like both O and C, I see different strengths and weaknesses in both. But one thing they have in common is that they're going to have to pick a VP with military experience. Else the repubs will cream them.

19. I disagree. I don't think she does need a vp with
military experience. First of all she's been on the Armed Service Committee and secondly the big issue is the economy. I do think that she needs someone VERY popular on her ticket and very high profile.

17. I agree
But not sure of the reverse.... People want the president to be the one in charge.. ( Chaney not withstanding) and if Hillary was veep ( with Bill there is well ) there would be may peeps wondering no matter HOW hard Hillary/Bill try to step back.. Repubs would ALSO be trying to say they were pushing issues.. taking leads on policy and such.. The ONLY way I see Hillary taking the veep is IF the party is so bitterly divided that all decide it is the ONLY way to beat McCain and assure Hillary's' supporters to back the team with enthusiasm and turn out...

20. Aren't you the character who sees any criticism of Obama...
... as a strike against party unity?

But reinforcing the "Hillary energizes repukes" meme is A-OK, right?

27. Nope. bzzzzt. I've criticized Obama in dozens of posts
I've criticized his duplicity in the McClurking affair. His vote on the Energy bill, his lack of leadership on Iraq, his snarky "you're likable enough" comment, and much much more. He's my candidate and he's flawed and I have NO trouble admitting it.

Try again, sweetie. Oh, and it's a fucking fact that Hillary is a catalyst far getting out the repuke vote. Denial is not useful. duh.

31. Glad you're willing to criticize Obama
Not all of his supporters are.

IIRC, though, you've been on me pretty much every time I've found something disconcerting coming out of him and his camp. If I'm wrong about that, my apologies.

And one of my biggest gripes about the Obama world is denial. Denial of today's political realities, and denial that there is a growing cultishness that has many loyal Dems kind of worried.

21. Obama would suffocate on that ticket...
Bill and Hillary take up most of the oxygen. And then Barack would be window dressing for the Bill and Hill dog and pony show.

Obama should win this thing--if not, he should run back to the Senate and go into hiding so the political operatives leave him alone.

then we'll have to agree to disagree.. I remember the two for the price of one comments, and Hillary talking of her "experience" while Bill was president. They are joined at the hip and not just as husband and wife.

28. Are you serious? She runs on HIS record and then if
anyone criticizes his record she says this is her campaign. She wants to run on what is good and run away from what is bad. Then she sends him out there as her attack dog. Then Clinton gives his speeches FOR HER CAMPAIGN bragging about all the things he did as president. No...it is not about Bill Clinton at all. :puke:

25. He shouldn't take the spot. With Bill in the whitehouse, the position will be in name only
With the continued partisanism that will be rampant if she is elected, he can only be hurt for future contests by his association with the clintons. I for one, hope that he doesn't accept, even though he will be pressured to do so.

29. Let me ask this..
IF Hillary gets the nomination and goes to Obama and says .. I feel with this divided party the ONLY way we can win is with you on the ticket so in the name of party unity I am asking you to please join me... Can he turn her down???.. KNOWING it will come out HOW she asked him.. espically if she ends up losing due to lackluster AA/Young people support/turn out.

30. She would only have to look better than that slug McCain...
...and she can do that with her eyes closed. If she's the nominee, she will win--the GOP has effed up the country that badly.

Same goes for Obama, or anyone else the Dems could have nominated.
