Washington State is the contest du jour
Clinton, Obama fighting for the state's 78 delegates

By Julie Bosman and Jeff Zeleny

updated 1:18 a.m. ET, Sat., Feb. 9, 2008

TACOMA, Wash. - Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama crisscrossed Washington State on Friday, drawing standing-room-only crowds as they campaigned only miles apart on the eve of Saturday’s Democratic caucuses.

With Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama engaged in a fight for delegates to the national convention, the state of Washington’s 78 pledged delegates are highly coveted by the two Democrats. Mr. Obama has been organizing in the state for nearly a year, with five offices here. Mrs. Clinton has spent as much time here as he has, and began running a television advertisement this week, focusing on health care.

1. Hillary may have 'spent as much time here', but it was only to speak @ 1K a plate fundraisers.
Barack has visited Washington State four times this last year. He has held events for people who could not pay big bucks to meet him. Clinton only visited Medina (extremely wealthy neighborhood) to raise cash from wealthy donors.

Big difference.

6. It was just reported on CNN that her demoraphics are blue collar workers
People who can't get off work to go to the caucuses at a specific time. So, today, she's lowering expectations.

But it's a Saturday and you would think that it's one of the better days for most workers to have a day off. We'll see.

Our caucuses were conducted the evening of 2/5. Crowded as heck.

2. Clinton may take this one
The Obama supporters put themselves at a significant disadvantage by crowing that Obama will win the next few races. Clinton has a good chance in Washington State, she'll win Maine by a lot, and she might take Virginia, despite the polls.

When are the Obama supporters going to learn not to play the Clintons' expectation game for them?
