How do you reply to the Muslim-smear email?
I just received it for the first time. I went to Reply All with a cut-and-paste from Snopes, only to find that Snopes doesn't allow cutting and pasting anymore. Oops.

Anyway, what's the best way to respond? I don't want to antagonize anyone, but I want to make it known that this is false, it has been disproven repeatedly, there's no truth to it, it's a bunch of racist lies.

What's the most effective way you know to debunk it? So that people listen and learn.

5. I replied to my sister-in-law who got it from her RW brother: "Sounds like some lies
from a RW racist slob who is afraid of Obama" I've replied the same way about her brother's filthy emails fowarded to me about Clinton. In my case I want to antagonize them.

6. I give them the link to it on snopes and if they sent it to me from a government pc
I send them the article where those federal employees got fired for campaigning with their work computers by sending out the Muslim smear.

7. Assuming You Want A Legal Way To Respond
Snopes does not allow you to post any of there site even in an email although there are always ways around it. I would start by responding that this is old propaganda, debunked long ago. Say, it is obvious that the people spreading this email have obviously not even checked the source it sites since Snopes has declared this a lie. Then post the link.

Someone showed me a copy of it at work on an email they had received. I scared the bejeebus out of them by, in addition to what I advocated above, telling them that anyone that was caught sending that email would surely be fired since it was racist BS. The coworker could not believe how upset I was an immediately deleted it.

9. Simply telling them that most employers frown upon email chain letters
and that many employers spy on their employees' email systems to make sure they are not being abused should cure a lot of problems.

26. They Should Already Know That But It Hasn't Stopped
the chain letters. I don't think they would actually fire anyone for an innocent chain letter but if the wrong person got this one it would likely set off a fire storm in our office. I was honestly tempted myself.

11. Direct them to snopes and tell them to use their brain and think, not react.
That email is designed to get an immediate emotional response of fear. Surprise!

17. Yes, the "Prophet" did have sex with Aisha at age 9, but that isn't
relevant to the issue of the RW smear against Obama.

PS it is relatively easy to throw stones at every single world religion. Not terribly useful in a Democratic primary. Entertaining, however. Just make sure that you give equal time to discussing the crimes of Christianity etc.

13. 1. Give them the Snopes link
2. Tell them that it wouldn't matter if he was Muslim because this notion that a politician must be Christian is religious bigotry in the first place.
3. Notify them they'd better never send me such asinine tripe ever again or I'll block them from my e-mail list.

(I've never received that piece of shit e-mail yet, but that's what I'd do if I did.)

19. I've only received it once. I hit reply all, inserted a comment that
I believed they would all like to know the truth and gave them the snopes link. I got no replies, so I don't know if anyone checked it out or not.

21. The kind of people who would send something like that on
are not the kind of people who would ever listen or learn. Best bet would be to put that person's emails on the spam list in your junk mail filter. They are not going to listen to you if you try to tell them it's not true. They don't want it to be false. They want to continue the chain/spam/derogatory emails.

I know. I know. I'm a Hillary supporter, but that "Muslim" thing does irritate the hell out of me considering how it's being used and that it's not true.

I then told the 73-year-old that sent it too me that he might want to get some psychiatric help so as to not spend his last years as a bitter, hateful, paranoiac.
