How would you feel: Breaking Ex-President GWB arrested in Italy to be tried at the Hague
I just laid back and I thought about the day after Barack is inaugurated and how he would address requests for the extradition of Bush and Co to stand trial. I don't think Barack would totally dismiss the demand. But I don't see him ordering the arrest.

But sit back and think for a minute: this is an ex President being hauled off. Does that inspire some inner patriotic emotion; even for a moment. That some foreign country is going to jail an ex President?

There were a number of thoughts: like, we hold George here and have the trial by telecom with the exlusion of death penalty.

Next, consider he is "ambushed" for arrest while visiting some place. How will the SS react? How would Bush be separated long enough. I see this happening like in a crowd and the foreign police dress as admirers reaching out to shake hands..grab and go with others cutting off the SS.

1. The Italian government just fell. Americans don't like such
instability. Dream on ... in reality, this is for history books, not court rooms. We are responsible for what we've done, not *.

2. Sounds good to me.
The United States has done the same thing to elected rulers of other countries. Iraq being an example. Noriega of Panama fame being another.

4. I was actually torn like, he totally deserves it and "how the mighty have fallen" meaning us the US
If it would help us regain our standing in the world I would have no problem.

6. bu$h should not be executed for two reasons -

1. Executing him would make him a martyr in some eyes.

2. Making him live out the rest of his natural life in an 8 X 10 cell with him knowing he once had the power of life and death over so many and now he had so little say in his own life, which hopefully would extend for another 25 years at least, with him looking at the same four unchanging walls the whole time.

8. I am not for a death penalty at all, put 'im in a cell!
It is true that some would see him as a martyr...some I think, may see Saddam Hussein as a martyr. I STRONGLY disagree with the notion of either as a martyr because REAL martyr's lead from the front and are not afraid to die for their beliefs. No, I think both bush and saddam hussein are worms...one is now worm food though.

7. I don't think anybody is executed in the EU anymore. Capital punishment is
practiced only in the more backward countries these days.

9. Hillary Clinton I believe voted for the "Hague Invasion Act"
It was an amendment to a bill to exempt U.S. soldiers from the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court in The Hague sponsored by Jess Helms in 2002. I believe the portion of the bill that she supported ("Hague Invasion Act") authorized the U.S. military to invade The Netherlands and seize any U.S. military personnel held for trial in the International Court, including the Commander-In-Chief.

10. Current federal law prohibits the government from cooperating with the ICC in any way
In fact, federal law requires that the President “all means necessary and appropriate to bring about the release of any being detained or imprisoned by, on behalf of, or at the request of the International Criminal Court”
