CNN Reporter lets network's anti-Obama bias slip on open microphone? (UPDATED)

From Markos at Daily Kos. Did anybody see this? My Tivo buffer doesn't go back that far...

CNN's Gregoire/Obama weirdness
by kos
Sat Feb 09, 2008 at 04:14:20 PM PST
So this is weird. I've gotten several emails about it, but apparently, while conducting a live feed with CNN reporter Jessica Yellin in Washington, she was heard trying to decide whether they should do an interview with the state's governor Christine Gregoire. Apparently, thinking her mike was turned off, she's hear say, ""Do you want to do it (the interview) live or just tape it for us?" Pause "Well, she's for Obama, that's the problem."

Now, there are two ways to look at this. The Obama partisans claim this is proof that CNN is biased against their candidate. The more plausible explanation is that CNN is sensitive about putting candidate surrogates on the air because of fears of being accused of bias. Or maybe they want to balance out the surrogates and already had filled their Obama surrogate quota.

Regardless, this is troubling enough that CNN needs to explain itself.

Updated, h/t highdensity:

Update: CNN responds:

"The point she was making is that since the governor has endorsed a candidate, Jessica was making sure that the producers were comfortable putting on a surrogate for one side when there wasn't a surrogate for the other side speaking live at that caucus as well."

That's a reasonable explanation.

33. So it sounds like CNN is a bit unfair toward Obama and we can figure it out.
Has anyone emailed CNN about these comments? They need to make a statement about what exactly they meant.

I have sat by for the past two months reading nothing but hate of Obama and Hillary by their supporters and I'm supposed to calm down? Yeah, when McCain is in the white house all of those who are telling men to calm down now, can calm down then.

18. I have a freaking agenda
to get the Democratic nominee elected POTUS. How many fucking bandages will we have to bring out, how much triage will be required to mend our party after the nominee is selected? Will Clinton and Obama supporters destroy our chances by their petty assed, whiny bitch slapping stupidiy?

BUT, SHARE WITH ME YOUR DESIRE FOR A PRESIDENT MCCAIN BY THE FUCKING BITCHING AND MOANING AND BELLY ACHING OF (NOT SO MUCH OUR CANDIDATES) BUT THEIR SUPPORTERS. I may soon be blind but I can perfectly see the destruction the democratic electorate is doing to our country in February 2008. Might we take a moment and think of February 2011?

21. Welcome aboard, BOSS.
Fortunately, the clusterfuck that has currently entangled DU is not representative of the rest of the Democratic party. In the real world, our eyes are still on the prize, ie: NO FUCKING REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT IN 2008! Kick ass, Chief. That is all.

My venting is inconsequential. I have been doing some major league cleaning up on the southside of the property; most likely six trips to the landfill. So much nicer then listening to political whining. Its amazing how much shit grows then you are not watching.

a clarification of your post. Where did I say anything about anyone's irrelevancy? My current issue is Clinton and Obama destroying each other to the point of a President McCain. If that is what you consider relevant then post away!
