Hillary should retire (from a Hil supporter)
I have been rooting for Hillary, but it is now clear that the few states she is projected to win are not enough to overcome the large leads that Obama got today and will likely get in upcoming caucuses.

I say Hillary should follow Romney's example and withdraw from the race.

I strongly believe this is over.

2. I'm not a Hillary OR Obama supporter, but I thought that today's results were
pretty much expected, and that it's the belief that Hillary will pick up more in the next round -- keeping the whole race tight.

I think you might be a little premature in your projection. Don't give up!

9. This is the problem:
Where Hillary wins, she will do so by a short margin, IMO. I don't know if you agree with me. Today's wins will further strengthen favorable views about Obama throughout the nation.

And if you take Texas, for example, Texas will be offset by many other states that Obama will win. Same goes for Ohio and PA.

72. Obama has now won 5 "blue states" and 13 "red"(of which 2 were "close red" in 04) - why would he be

stronger than Hillary in the general if he can not beat her in the "base" of a Democratic election victory in 08?

Below are results to date with 08 winning percent and Bush-Kerry 2004 vote totals.

South Carolina 55% 937,974 661,699
Utah 57% 663,742 241,199

Caucuses

Alaska 75% 190,889 111,025

All you did was state that my post # was in the 60's, as if the number of posts determines who a person supports.

Those who have 1,000 posts have the same right as those who have 10 posts to be Hillary supporters.

too many delegates in those 2 states to throw in the towel now. While she has been leading in those states' polls, the current string of Obama victories (and the large margins in those wins) may well swing both Texas & Ohio to Obama. There are a LOT of black voters in the major metro areas of Texas (Houston, Dallas) & Austin has around 1,000,000 residents in the greater metro area that are VERY progressive (i.e. not Hillary-friendly). Ohio may have a lot of blue-collar whites that Hillary appeals to, but the big cities (Cleveland, Columbus, Cinncinati, et al) have large black populations that will vote for overwhelmingly for the next President of the United States, Barak Obama.

If Obama sweeps today, sweeps the VA/MD/DC contests, AND wins OH/TX, then Hillary may see the writing on the wall. But we're not there yet. Those of you on the progressive side of the party need to get out your checkbooks & credit cards and give to Obama NOW. This country must end 20 years of Bush/Clinton pro-war rule NOW.

GOBAMA (and please pick Dennis Kuncinich for your running mate if you get the nomination ....)

it's only really happened once (when WJC lost the ARK gov mansion after his first term).

Well, OK, the 1994 elections were essentially a defeat for WJC, and then he turned around and pushed the GOP-friendly DLC agenda 100x harder.

That worked out GREAT, didn't it?????????

85. Douglas Wilder made a comment on that very thing ...
saying that "they had their time". Absolutely.

If Hillary wants to make a real difference, she can start pushing a progressive agenda in the Senate. But the White House has seen 20 years of Bush/Clinton, and if you count the 8 years that GHWB was VP, its TWENTY EIGHT FREAKING YEARS.

Time to move on, pass the torch to a new generation, a generation born in the Sixties, not defined by the Sixties. My generation has had it's chance. Time for some youngbloods to actually move the country forward.

68. Well, add NE, WA, and LA, and subtract the superdelegates
because they'll back the popular favorite and that ain't gonna be Hilly.

70. What? Until at the minimum there is a breakdown of votes by district results shouldn't be counted.
Why should everything but SD's be added?

the next time the elected person is up for re-election?

77. The voters are backing Obama. That's the point.
Hilly is losing and nobody loves a loser. Sorry, that's how it works in politics.

67. Only Freepers would be stupid enough to believe your post.
Granted, there are a few slimy stooopid Freeper trolls that do hang out here on any given day, so you might be able to fool them, but we're not buying it here toots.

69. Well, thank God you've found us to save us from all this primary foolishness.
I supported Edwards and now Obama and you can just, well, bite me.

Thanks. :eyes:

A Hillary supporter who, although she leads in the delegate race, wants her to quit. I feel your concern.

84. You Obviously Don't Know A Thing About This Process. You're Almost Embarrassing Yourself.
Such a tone of defeatism when there is no catalyst for it. Did you expect today's results to be different? I can tell you that the majority of people here didn't, cause we actually pay attention to stuff. The outcome is exactly the way it had been expected to be, so why the sudden tone of defeatism?

You obviously are wet behind the ears as it relates to this political process, because Hillary is of course still in this fight and in fact is still likely to be the nominee. So to post a thread with such conviction that it's just all over for her, speaks volumes as to your inexperience to the process and grip on this political reality. Sorry to say it, but it's true.

Who wants to start the petitions?
