Obama's money made the difference in Lousiana?
Edited on Sat Feb-09-08 09:31 PM by jackson_dem
From the exit poll:

36% of voters thought campaign ads were "very important" and Obama won them 61-38. 27% thought they were "somewhat important" and Obama won them 56-42. Among the 30% who thought they were not important Hillary won 51-45, including 54-38 among the 11% who thought they were "not at all important."

Obama blanketed the state with television and radio ads. Hillary ran only radio ads and began doing so only recently. Obama has been running national television ads ever since the lead up to Florida.

Hillary has a problem. Her base is working folks and Obama's the affluent. Louisiana shows how her financial disadvantage may hurt her.

4. The affluent help you raise $20 million more than a working folk candidate in a month
The fat cats maxed out in 2007. It comes down to who can write $500 and $1,000 checks easier. Given their bases, the answer is Obama supporters.

5. Oh give me a break.
Obama has college students as a large part of his base as well. She should have solicited for donations sooner. Her campaign even stated as much. The truth is, they gathered all their corporate dollars, lined up what they thought would be all the endorsements they had to have, and tried to ride through Super Tuesday on Name recognition, and she underestimated the power of the people who want real change.

8. Data doesn't take a break
Look at any exit poll and the class divide is evident. The richer you are the more likely you are to support Obama.

12. Not in Louisiana
He and Clinton were one point apart -$15,000 (Clinton 49/48); and $15,00-$30,000 (Obama 49/48). It's true Obama took every other income group.

13. LA is an exception because of the racial overlap with class

I bet if you broke the black vote down by income the same class pattern would be evident.
