San Antonio Express News endorses Obama
From today's paper, Editorial: Obama better choice for Democratic nod

http://www.mysanantonio.com/opinion/editorials/stories/MYSA021008.02O.Obama2ed.23f14e3.html

- America needs a president that tries to create unity out of diversity, marshalling all the forces — red, blue or purple — that make this country great.

Sen. Barack Obama is the Democratic candidate that offers the best chance to reach that lofty objective.

Obama is generating so much excitement that Sen. Hillary Clinton, once leading comfortably in the polls, is bracing for the fight of her life. -

6. This is the major paper in the region
SA is 1.2M plus and this reaches into the Rio Grande valley, basically the center of gravity for the Hispanic community.

3. One of the cnn analysts last night said something interesting...
She said that people shouldn't expect Hispanic voters in Texas to go for Hillary the way they did in CA, for three reasons: Clinton has had a long association with CA, but not here; Hispanics in Texas are not union; and there are many more young Hispanics in Texas.

4. How will Obama fare with Texas' Hispanics?
Front page story from SA EN:

Generally supports the idea that Obama can do well with Hispanics and don't see the racial divide others talk about.

http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/metro/stories/MYSA021008.01A..BlackBrown.37cb78f.html

- "Why else do you think we have the biggest MLK March and celebration in the nation here, in a city that is 61 percent Latino and 6 percent black? Because we march with them," he said. "I don't think it is a bias against blacks as far as Latinos are concerned, but that does not mean that there isn't a certain competitiveness." -

- "I think there is more unity in San Antonio among the black and Latino communities than other places, and I think that as (Obama) gets exposed to Latinos here in Texas, he is going to cut into Clinton's Hispanic support," Sosa noted. -

- "I don't know, it makes me feel kind of angry," the 52-year-old San Antonio native said. "If people don't know what he's about, how can they condemn him? I think it is terrible to think that Hispanics won't vote for him just 'cause he is black.

"You know, inside, we all got the same color blood." -

16. Its all about Obama
I'm in San Antonio...it was good news about the San Antonio Express News although - I would imagine that very few saw it - it was buried in the editorials. Very concerning to me.

There is no doubt to me that Obama is an authentic leader. I trust him...I love his policy positions - I hope he moves TX in the "win" column so to speak...although - the rules down here are so different...its all about delegates. We'll see how it plays out - the biggest thing is people getting to know him. As for me - I'm doing my part.

Because - I'll tell you this....there are ALOT of people who dislike Clinton in TX with an absolute passion. Its amazing how much people dislike this women...and it was earned if you ask me.
