As a Clinton supporter I just get tired of all the "Obama cult" bullshit. There are real markers that define a cult. Take it from someone who has seen it happen: if at the end of the day you've still got your own money, your own place to live where you're free to be with your own loved ones, and your own free time to do with what you want, you ain't in one.

11. I'll add my kudos for the attempt to tell folks to stop throwing

a loaded word around where it doesn't belong.

However, not all cults are deadly. The least harmful one was probably the one led by the recently deceased Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

Usually, there's a charismatic central figure, rigid social control involving isolation, food and sleep deprivation, and reserve of all sexual contact with either women or men to the cult leader, along with the "donation" of all property belonging to the members. Most of them don't long outlive their central figures. The few that do end up being called religions.

I no longer have a dog in the current fight for the nomination and I find it impossible to understand how two relatively inexperienced people with such poorly thought out plans could inspire such fervor among their fans to make them lose their manners, but even I can't call it a cult.

Now the GOP, that's another matter. It's a cult allied with a cult (Moonies) and turned into a racketeering organization.
