What are the substantive DINO/DLC pro-corporatist policy differences between that candidate and the other one?

118. Policy isn't the issue and you know it. It's who funds those policy efforts.
Clinton has taken more money from the health care and insurance companies than any other candidate, yet we are to believe that these corporate interests are going to actively support her policies that work in their disfavor? Come on.

124. So if the policies aren't different what does it matter
And remember two things

1) Those donations also come from normal people in those industries - in fact my donations to Richardson and Edwards (I'm witing for the GE to donate to Obama or Clinton) would have shown up in the first category given my job. I'm not a PAC or lobbyist either.

2) We have two viable candidates only - the source of their war chests is not significantly different. Even IF source of funding were the big issue this would only be a meaningful criterion if Edwards or Kucinisch etc were viable.

69. Vermont won't count in a major way
When people ask me how I can know that without polls, I simply tell them that Hillary has raised $47,000 dollars here and Barack has raised over $400,000- more per capita than any other state. Than I tell them to look at our history: In 1988 we went strongly for Jackson and in 1992 we went for Jerry Brown.

When you look at it, that's really a damned impressive list!!

Of course, I'm aware of the pre-dominantly African American-populated states of Alaska, Idaho, North Dakota, and Kansas. Didn't Jesse Jackson win those in 1984 and 1988? President Clinton, are you around to answer that for us?

80. count the delegates
they will nominate, not the number of states won. on that score, Obama certainly has pulled ahead, but has to win the upcoming big states to stay ahead, or else, it could go back to even, with Clinton slightly ahead.

The premise of your post is a meme and a snippet of the arguments against the prospects for Obama in the race ahead. Obviously other points against the importance of these wins have been made. The response has been to point to some unknown momentum which is supposed to materialize in Texas and Ohio, bleeding into Pennsylvania. If Obama loses those three, this race will go back to even, so, best of luck to both.

Love how you change the calculus for what ever winning means to make your guy the front runner. Good luck winning in November without those of us who don't count in your book -- you're guy isn't winning by that much no matter how you slice it. Its still about 50-50. I for one will never vote for your candidate because I think he's a phony and you are all full of s%^$#.

this isn't about Obama winning- I don't think he is. It's about the numerous- and boy, do I mean numerous- posts by clintonites justifying why Obama's wins aren't really wins and don't count. You're right; it's about 50-50. And you have no sense of humor whatsoever. Furthermore, I'm clearly far superior to you as I WILL vote for the dem candidate. I'm not a whiny little freak.

I know at least 50 in my neighborhood who would be willing to
give up their lattes.

Four are only willing to give up the "foam".

Would we count then if these people went latte-free?

A functioning democracy is a decaffinated, foam-free democracy!

What about SUVs? Do we count if we drive SUVs?

I can't keep all of these rules straight!

92. What you're pointing out here
is the ongoing philosophical difference between the Democratic Party's Big State Bi-coastal approach and Dr. Dean's Fifty State Strategy.

On the one hand, since at least 2000, the conventional wisdom is that Democrats should concede a certain HUGE section of the country to the Repiglickins and focus on the "delegate-rich" states. That theory was laid out best in the book "Whistling Past Dixie."

Conversely, the Fifty State Strategy says that Democrats in EVERY state are important and ought not be written off because they happen to live in a pre-conceived "red" state. I prefer this strategy, believing that the South is not forever lost if we only have the will to fight back.

Given the 16 years the Grand Ol' Perverts have invested in demonizing Hillary Clinton, especially in the South, it's not surprising we'd see her conceding the South and focusing on the delegate-rich states. By extension, it's also not surprising to see Obama going in the opposite direction, given the greater likelihood of his ability to motivate previously marginalized african american voters in that region.

96. well how many of those states that Obama won can he get in the general?
11/18 states Obama won will NEVER vote for a dem in the general. that is 61 percent of his current primary wins will never be general election wins. 63 percent of Hillary's current wins WILL vote for a Dem. the rest for both are toss ups.

a few red/purple states - in particular, Ohio, Virginia, Missouri, Arkansas, New Mexico, Colorado, North Carolina, maybe Georgia, West Virginia, Florida.

98. President of the United States
That is the office being run for. Not President of the United Blue States. McCain is not running to be President of the United Red States. A Democrat in Wyoming is just as important as a Democrat in New York or California. California collectively has far more weight than Wyoming based solely on the fact that there are more Democrats in the state, not because the state is of greater value. This weight is represented in the number of delegates apportioned to the states. If Obama wins, it is not going to be because he won more states, much less more important states. It will be because he won more states by far larger margins than Clinton did. What state has so far given Obama his biggest delegate pull? California by a long shot, a state that he lost. It is silly to discount the level of support Obama has received in blue states. On the other hand, where Obama has won he has often won big. With the exception of Arkansas and Oklahoma, all of Clinton's wins have been relatively small, with Obama getting over 40% of the votes (with the obvious exception of states where there were still other viable candidates running). I find it quite ironic that now Clinton's chances now lie in two red states that by the accounts of many of her supporters should "not count".

119. My mama and my daddy
say Maine counts! They are 87 years young and trekked out in a blinding snowstorm to caucus for Obama. My dad said he kept smiling at people and uttering, "Historic." They lost track of their ride home navigating around thousands at Portland High School, and decided to try to walk the 7 blocks home. They made it to the nearest corner and realized they were no match for the weather. They were concerned about falling and possible dual broken hips, they flagged down a car and got a ride home from a perfect stranger. Says a lot for Portland and senior determination, yes?
