The Mind of an LDS Family - and Electibility
Edited on Sun Feb-10-08 11:39 PM by Kittycat
THIS is what we're looking at. This was just posted on a parenting board I frequent. The woman was obviously a Romney supporter.

----
"We had a family talk about it (primary) today, and this is what I came up with. It's purely political. I've got it figured that Obama is more of a threat in the national election than HRC would be. And I'm less than enthusiastic with all of the Republican nominees. Rolling Eyes So...on Tuesday, I'm voting for HRC. My logic is that if I can help get her the Dem nomination and more delegate votes, she's more likely to get beat than Obama come November. I hate not being able to cast a "real" vote since my main man is out now. Shady, I know..."
----

ETA: She's voting in VA's primary. And my response was less than enthusiastic.

2. I've always wondered if the Angel Moroni is related to Boney Moroni?

5. I honestly think that Moroni was probably the surname of someone grifter Smith...
met during his wanderings as a dowser.
It sounded "exotic" enough to have that "woo woo" effect.

7. LOL... This was my response (and a question)
"Can you do that? Is VA an open primary, where you can declare a party change when you go to vote?

Also, I think it's shady - just being honest. When it comes to the primary, if my #1 & 2 had dropped out (Obama, then Edwards) - I would go vote uncommitted to stay true to myself. I don't think I could lie like that (as a personal decision, no reflection on you). I think there's enough politics in politics, without compromising myself in it all."

---Note that's in response to primary voting, not GE voting.

Then she responds.
"It's not lying...it's strategy. I'm not for either of the R nominees thus far. I'd rather see an easily beatable D go in, than one that's hard to beat. KWIM? And yes, you can vote for either party here."

I just responded that I'm morally bound to not cheat in that way, as a personal conviction.

9. Because NO Democrat has ever voted in a Republican primary
before to try to influence the outcome.

Right?

We're above all that.

This is some brand NEW tactic that the Repukes just thought up.

LOL!

10. NO. I haven't
I have voted as a republican, when I was registered as such, many years ago. But no, I haven't and wouldn't do that. I think it's wrong, and in this case - quite hypocritical of a person that's constantly imposing her greater than thou attitude and morality on the board.

Do you approve of this? Would you vote in a primary for a republican, just to sway the outcome? It would have been simple for me to do so, given that I'm in IL - and a sure win for Obama. Why not throw away a vote to get the most defeatable republican, right? Wrong. I have more conscience than that, and I take my right to vote more seriously than that.

14. don't see anything wrong with it if it's an open primary
the dems could change that if they wanted to. I'd do it if I lived in an open primary state...

15. It happens all the time. I don't see what's dishonest about it.
If they don't want it to happen they'll change the rules.

6. Anedotal comments made, supposedly, by someone on a board somewhere
Does anyone really let this type of stuff determine who they vote for?

If so, we're all doomed.

8. Determine who they'll vote for?
I'm confident in who I'm voting for. I'm just saying, this is the kind of nuts we're up against. They're clearly following Rush & Coulter's lead.

11. "she's more likely to get beat than Obama come November"
your quote and avatar say all that need to be said ... no, IMO, just like many others on this board, as of lately, you were promoting your candidate by indicating HRC was preferred by the GOP because your candidate is considered unbeatable.

While none of it has anything to do with working to elect the candidate who will best serve the 94% of us being screwed over by those in power.

That she feels Obama is more electable?
