Delegates won in MI and FL shouldn't count because of existing DNC rules?
But Superdelegates shouldn't act in accordance with existing DNC rules?
Can anyone justify the pro-rules/anti-rules stance of the Obamas?

1. So, the rules shouldnt count re no delegates for MI & FL, but rules should count for superdelegates?
Delegates won in MI and FL should count despite existing DNC rules?
But Superdelegates can act in accordance with existing DNC rules?
Can anyone justify the pro-rules/anti-rules stance of the Clintons?

2. Huh?
Not an "Obama" nor a "Clinton", but I think the point is that the MI and FL votes shouldn't count because the candidates were informed not to count on those votes. In Obama's case he didn't run in FL. Perhaps if a re-vote happened then it would be fair.

Now the super delegates are anti-democratic and shouldn't be used to thwart the choice of the majority of voters - whomever that is.

3. I'm for Obama. The MI and FL rules should stand, and the superdelegates should vote.

The rules that candidates have relied upon to fashion their campaigns should not be changed mid-stream.

4. Neither should count.
However, for this particular election cycle, rules have been established. Like them or not, in keeping with those rules, superdelegates stay for now and MI & FL delegates are not counted (as they broke the rules).

What we really need is an overhaul of the entire system.

1) No delegates period - direct voting.

2) A federal holiday, "Election Day", to be held on a Friday or Monday.

3) Simultaneous primaries in all 50 states (and the territories)held over the 3-day weekend created by "Election Day".

5. There is a difference
Between stating what the Superdelegates *should* do, and stating that what they *must* do. The Superdelegates can and will vote based on their own criteria. Maybe in a future election cycle we will eliminate the Superdelegate system, maybe we will make them pledged PLEOs at the state level, maybe we will just leave it alone. Regardless, for this cycle I would hope that the Superdelegates take into account the pledged delegate count when they make their decision, which I am sure most will.

And on a second note, while FL and MI have been sanctioned, there are still ways within the rules to seat their delegates. The convention credentials committee can choose to seat them, and this would be perfectly within the rules. But again, I would hope they only do this if it does not change the outcome of the nomination.
