Clinton As A Manager
Patti Solis Doyle had been living on borrowed time as Clinton's campaign manager following the disastrous showing in Iowa and the rockiness leading up to the New Hampshire primary. "What happened today would have happened the day after New Hampshire had we lost," one source said, adding that others may soon follow Solis Doyle's departure.

Initially, Clinton's former White House chief of staff, Maggie Williams, was brought in to run the campaign even though Solis Doyle was still there. The result was confusion and awkwardness for the staff, who weren't sure who was really in charge.

But even more problematic was the campaign's money crunch. Over the last seven years, Clinton had raised $175 million for her reelection and her presidential campaign. But Solis Doyle didn't tell Clinton that there was next to no cash on hand until after the New Hampshire primary. "We were lying about money," a source said. "The cash on hand was nothing."

In turn, Clinton didn't tell Solis Doyle that she was lending her own money to keep the campaign afloat. Solis Doyle found out third-hand. And when she asked Clinton about it, the senator told her she couldn't understand how the campaign had gotten to such a point.

Commentary by Andrew Sullivan: The reason underlings lie about things is because they're scared and don't want to upset the boss. Think Bush and Iraq. Or Bush and everything. You want another executive like that in the White House? The kind who does not want to hear bad news?

They say that campaigns show how your presidency will work. I want no part of a presidency like this.

2. ...
IF she's running her campaign this poorly, you have to wonder if it's a foreshadowing of how poorly she'll run the white house. She doesn't seem to have good managerial/executive skills.

4. That's a nightmare for Camp Hillary
Dishonesty, fear, incompetence all in one. It sounds like the last few years of Bush.

5. Solis Doyle didn't tell Sen. Clinton how low the cash was?
Sounds like she (Clinton) chose an untrustworthy manager....sad.

7. Why isn't Clinton asking the real question? Where did the money go?
If Solis-Doyle did hide the fact that the campaign had no cash on hand from Clinton, then she really did deserve to be demoted. However, I sort of feel like she's a scapegoat for the real problems which are Penn and McAuliffe. It is Terry McAuliffe's job to fundraise. That is what they brought him on board for. If he isn't bringing in the cash to keep the campaign going, then what purpose does he serve?

Where did the money go?

10. One hundred seventy five MILLION DOLLARS. After the first contest? GONE?
Where is the money?

Solis-Doyle has been very loyal to the Clintons, passing over big bucks in the private sector to come back and work for Hillary.

I think she made some mistakes, but this in no way is all her fault.

12. the weird thing is
she hasn't outspent Obama. She has less field offices around the country and has bought less ads than he has.

What are they spending the money on?

16. They are spending it on consultants, flowers and parking
$5.8M to Mark Penn. How much are the other consultants getting, Wolfson, MacAuliffe? She spent half a million just for parking. Thousands for flowers. Hair stylists, hour long infomercials, renting two jets instead of one. Obama is spending his on tv ads and field staff.

11. I've had the pleasure of working for some excellent senior women officers
during the late 1970s and early 1980s. I can say without hesitation that NOT ONE of them demonstrated the demeanor and traits that HRC has repeatedly portrayed.

Excellent Leaders (and Managers) INSPIRE their subordinates to achieve goals as "A TEAM."

Just listen to HRC talk "at any time" to note that it's "ALL ABOUT HER?"

It's sad really because I've known women who were brilliant but would RUIN their chances for promotion due to the fact that they could not truly be a part of "THE TEAM."

Whether it be Military, Government or Civilian Career aspirations, the people who truly STAND OUT are those who can help all those subordinate to them - feel as if they are A VALUED ASSET to the whole organization/unit.

To be glib and ultra-simplistic: To me LEADERSHIP (MANAGEMENT) is like having what the rock-a-belly singer, Mojo Nixon, terms "ELVIS."

Hillary has no "Elvis."

14. One of the subplots in there that worked in Barack's favor:
Hillary did not shake up her campaign as advertised since she won NH. Had she done so, she might have had that "shot in the arm" much earlier on. Now, I hope it is too late.
