The pub side they're waiting on and yes i know it's based on exit polling but shouldn't they wait until more votes come in?

2. Obama won blacks, whites, men, women, dems, and indies in the exit polls
I think it is safe to say he won.

8. When their experts feel confident, they call it - otherwise they wait
So if they call it really quickly, it rarely is a close election (I know they've gotten things wrong in the past though).

9. NOPE!!!! because people can lie in exit polling we all saw what happened in Missouri
the exit polls had Hillary as the winner and she lost. I don't know why these networks keep using these DAMN!!! exit polls.

12. let me add why this bothers me so much, i support Obama but when the GE
rolls around i don't want them calling any states this early. I don't trust the media and if one is close between our Nom and theirs i want to see all the votes tallied before Tim Russert and his whiteboard hand that state to McCain.

15. Not many states outside of ND, SD, UT, MT, and AK
that can possibly be called early in the GE.

17. I think they are going by very lopsided exit polling. At some point it becomes statistically
impossible for one candidate to win. When that occurs it's safe to call it even before any votes are counted.

22. Support Obama, but don't like it when they do this. They've done it both ways however.
They do this when they think its overwhelmingly clear from exit polling, but I think that is a really BAD idea and can cause a lot of trouble certain situations. I wish they would wait to call it until enough votes were casts so that it would be impossible for one candidate to overtake the leader.
