Will the media show Obama's teleprompter?

One of the reporters covering the speech an hour before Obama landed already said they were setting them up. Of course, they never pan out far enough to actually SHOW the teleprompters, do they???

He uses one quite often. He did during the Kennedy endorsement speech. He used one in Kansas for his speech here.

The point is....

The point is early today there was a hateful post on DU about Hillary using hand notes, yet trying to give the impression that Obama uses nothing to help during his speeches, which is not true. I will try to locate the post and link it. Frankly, the whole thing is silly as both candidates use cards and/or teleprompters. You have to expect though when one side calls a candidate out for doing this, the other side is going to get their dig in also.

In the early primaries Tweety repeatedly said how great a speaker Obama is as he very pointedly raved that he was not using teleprompters - even though he was. Don't know if Tweety is still pushing that lie (among others) because I have turned him off.

The point of the article is (horror) that when Obama goes off script he's just another "angry liberal" like that "class warfare" advocatin' John Edwards. Oh the humanity! Obama's really a liberal!!!

He says Obama was "improvising" during his speech at the Jefferson-Jackson dinner when he said:

"Now I understand some of the excitement doesn't have to do with me. I know that whatever else happens whatever twists and turns this campaign may take, when you go into that polling place next November, the name George Bush won't be
on the ballot and that makes everybody pretty cheerful. Everyone's happy about that. The name of my cousin Dick Cheney won't be on the ballot. That was embarrassing when that news came out. When they do these genealogical surveys, you want to be related to somebody cool. So, but, his name wont be on the ballot."

This is no improv. It's his stump speech. And it is neither "a jeremiad" or "the partisan anger that has so poisoned the Democratic party". You have to giggle that the author is even trying to pull that one over on their readers.

And honestly? Every other candidate running wishes they could deliver a speech as well with a teleprompter as Obama does with index cards. He did fine.

If you've ever done anything where you are on stage before an audience, having notes and other tools as a guide are certainly "forgiveable".

I saw and recorded Obama's speech in Madison and he made a fantastic speech.... I'd guess they can be guides.

Only once did he have a teleprompter, and on that occasion, the damn thing fell apart when they were setting it up. At the Oprah rally at Verizon Wireless Arena, there was no teleprompter; at his UNH-Manchester event, there was no teleprompter; at his Manchester town hall meeting right before the primary, there was no teleprompter.
