Barack Obama in Madison and My PHOTOS!!!! Take a Look!
Edited on Tue Feb-12-08 11:27 PM by hnmnf
Some of the pics are blurry, but some are fantastic...enjoy!

Here is Madison, WI for you, a view from my apartment

Wow, what a night! It all started at five O'Clock when I headed over to the Kohl Center in Madison, WI to hear him speak.

It was 10 degrees outside and it was snowing. We got there early enough to get to go inside to the Practice courts for the Wisconsin basketball team.

There were a little over 2,000 people in there, the area that served as the Overflow room, and there was overflow. I found out there that we won Virginia. Finally at 7 O'Clock, I reached the security gate, which was actually manned by TSA, lol.

Well, I entered the arena and the 2,000 of us got to be on the floor. I was shocked at how close I was, and how full it was already. Apparently while we entered from downstairs, the arena was filling up around us and it was packed. I'd estimate 18,000 people in the Arena, maybe more.

Here is a picture of Fixed Noise's Major Douchebag

I told him to go fuck himself. I didnt think he heard me.

Here is a shot of the change sign without a speaker there, but not for long

It was a lot of fun. We started a wave. And in Wisconsin fashion, we had a regular wave, slow wave, then a fast wave. Just like football games. They played the Yes We Can video, and the place went wild. It went wild when they broadcasted CNN showing Obama's win in VA. Finally, the show was about to get under way and out came The Governor of Wisconsin, Jim Doyle

And then it happened. Barack Obama's was announced to U2's City of Blinding Lights, and the place went absolutely nuts. Over 18,000 on their feet for Obama. One of the most amazing things about the crowd was how diverse it wasnt actually. Just like Wisconsin, the crowd was almost all white, and we all enjoyed every moment of it.

Then there were some ass hole, and yes I say ass holes who wanted to try to block some people's views so they can hold their Building 7 and 9/11 truth posters. They were causing a disruption and were escorted out...jerks

The speech was amazing as you saw, and the crowd was so into it. It was such an amazing experience.

Hope you enjoy the pictures!

1. Awesome photos! Thank you for sharing with us -
I have a questions. On TV, it seemed as if when the crowd cheered, the volume automatically went down. I am assuming it was very loud in there. Was it?

:hi:

I've seen him myself on several occasions and there is just no getting away from it. He can pick you up and take you with him no matter how hard you resist.

Loved the rooftop pics, too. I'm in the satellite TV business and I counted four big dishes on the rooftops. I love those big dishes :)

31. Congrats to you, to Senator Obama, and to whoever held up that 9/11 truth banner.
I'm glad the folks weren't allowed to disrupt the meeting, but I'm glad they got a chance to get their point across as well. The Jersey Girls and many Americans would someday like to know the truth and if Obama becomes President, we'd be able to put some of that transparency in government to use.

not the kids, but its' a new generation of people who reject the politics-as-usual, phony press releases, scripted encounters, voting in line with party members when it's against principle, and made for tv florida victory speeches.

we've had it with the abusive use of power, with the wars, the attack ads, and we're voting for change. and we don't associate ourselves iwth a political party. progressive, but not democrat, i bet, for most of these kids.

by the way, madison is a huge college town, duh!

Speaking as one myself I think us college kids are a lot more informed than you think. But it's nice to know that you justify Obama's incredible support by assuming his supporters are a bunch of ignorant kids.

Guess what, just because many of us don't support the DLC's favorite daughter doesn't mean we're a flock of idiots.

67. Wow! Reminds me of the Oprah/Caroline/Michelle Rally at UCLA

So many people wanted to go but they were afraid they wouldn't be able to get in for the crowds.

I told them what OBAMA's message had been telling me, "YES I CAN!," YES I Can Get In There for this historic event! YES I CAN!

And it was packed, all the seats were taken by the last hour but we came two hours in advance, like a DU poster had suggested.

I GOT IN and I will never forget the thrill of that day.

At UCLA the crowd was diverse and as an African American that made me so proud.

To think that all those people were there to judge OBAMA on the content of his character, not the color of his skin!

:bounce:

Madison is surounded by Lake Mendota and Monona.
