Randi Rhodes spent lots of time today talking about how fucked it would be if the Super Delegates decided our nominee.

John King on CNN just did a hypothetical analysis tonight if Obama (after he won VA, DC, MD) wins every remaining state by a 55% to 45% margin and guess what?

Obama still does not reach 2025 delegates needed to win!

In other words, the possibility of the SD's deciding our nominee becomes more and more plausible.

So the question of the day to ask the SD's is:

Will you represent the will of your constituency and vote the same way they did?

NO fucking way do I want our nominee decided by a tiny group of Super Delegates! Let the people decide and the SD's should follow the lead of the people.

Yes - we should contact our SD's and let them know we expect them to follow the will of the people who elected them. I contacted both my WA senators and SD's, Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell, both of whom had pledged to Hillary and their staff assistants both said it is a very valid question and an answer will be forthcoming from both soon. It does make a difference to call/write/email!

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!

And even as an Obama supporter, I say that applies to ALL the delegates (including Ted Kennedy).

Lets make sure WE THE PEOPLE decide our nominee!

1. If it is decided by a tiny group of SD's then more than most of the regular delegates would be
supporting the candidate.

2. I say individual contacts not the answer -- a petition for a GENERAL policy different from ...
what Riverstone is advocating. Rather, the Superdelegates should be urged to rally around EITHER candidate receiving a CLEAR MAJORITY of the raw votes AND of the pledged delegates. It is silly to have some SD's switch Obama to HRC and others the reverse. This is especially true if it isn't universal (which would require a change in the rules that won't happen).

The general thrust of NOMINATION TO THE MOST VOTES & ELECTED DELEGATES is reasonably simple, straightforwardly democratic, and is apt to have wide popular appeal (though many at DU, especially those opposed to Obama for the nomination, would be unhappy).
