One wants to punch him in the gut if he gets close to him. Why does he want to? Because Obama is winning.

8. They're still Democrats.
If you want party unity, you won't make such statements about fellow Democrats, anywhere.

Contrary to popular belief, DU is not exactly an isolated community. You know as well as I do it is widely read, and often cited.

Finally, how do you know you're not insulting fellow DUers? Being a DUer does not preclude anyone from posting on any other site on the planet.

I would think you would be very careful to court HRC supporters if you want their votes so badly. Do not be fooled for a moment that you are entitled to them by default.

35. Well, comparing Oabam to Hitler is pretty foolish...
"I am very disappointed in DNC. If BHO won the nomination, I will have to switch to GOP. Maybe we should unit and make it clear that we won’t vote for a phony like BHO. No, we won’t come around. He’s got the crossover voters, so there is nothing DNC needs to worry about. I would definitely support Hillary to run as independent. She may not win eventually, but at least will get some votes from the big phony.

No he CAN’T. I am so sick of this “Yes we can” crap. All what’s going on is very similar to the Nazi time. Hilter was also very inspiring and he was a very good speaker. See what happened!"

"Obama had gay sex with a man and smokes crack"

Karl Rove organized the release of the movie 'The Manchurian Candidate' in 2004 to prepare the groundfor his use of Obama to wreck the Democrat party...

Sorry, that is just unhinged.

23. "Your" candidate?
If you're as dedicated as your fellow Obama supporters to convincing HRC supporters to back him, you should be promoting him as "our" candidate.

You're contributing to nothing but the politics of division. Would "your" candidate, in all his talk about "unity" and "reaching out," support that?

They think they've got us over a barrel just like every year. Obama's the Dem candidate and though we don't like him he's better than the (Republican) alternative. So of course we're going to be good little Democrats and pull that lever even though we're getting bread crumbs in return.

Fuck that. I'm sick and tired of being their ass-monkey.

81. To use an old cliche
"I'm not gay, but I've got a lot of gay friends." But it's true.

I know where you're coming from. I think the Democratic party uses you in the exact same way that the Republican party uses the fundies: as a reliable yet easily-ignored base. They make a lot of vague, reassuring, noble platitudes that promise change at some ill-defined point in the future, and then do nothing about it until election time rolls around again, knowing full well that you won't vote for the opposition. It's a horrible situation for you to be in, and it pisses me off that it happens. I don't know what can be done to change things, since you're in a "damned if you do/damned if you don't" quandary. Either stay home/vote 3rd party and risk another 4 years under a Republican, or vote for a Democrat that has no intention of making any real progress towards gay rights. It's an unenviable position, and I know I can't possibly appreciate how awful it must feel without living it.

It may not mean much, but you have my sympathy and support.

you wouldn't be so ready to call them "fellow Democrats". That board is full of racist, homophobic banter that is not becoming of anyone who calls themself a Democrat. I'm sorry, I 'm not just willing to accept someone who has (D) next to their name unless they actually show some principles that merit it.

That said, I think some of the rhetoric needs to be toned down on both sides. The level of hostility that this is escalating to is ultimately not going to be good for whoever our eventual nominee is. We need to bring this back to some modicum of civility.

42. Sadly there are plenty of people within the Democratic party
who spew racist and, more frequently, homophobic filth. Obama himself claimed that "good, moral decent people" are homophobes so apparently it's becoming of Democrats to spew homophobic banter--at least to some. There would be others who would no doubt condone racism as easily as Obama condones homophobia.

:-(

46. That's not my point, cb.
I've seen you before, and I know you can digest this: For many months, the Obama supporters have been echoing the whole unity / reaching out thing. In the past few weeks, the pressure to unify has reached a high pitch. Over the past couple of days, the OP's asking for / pleading / downright demanding a commitment / oath to support / vote for / donate to Obama have gone off the scale.

It's not indigenous to DU. But how do you expect the rest of us to believe this "unity" spiel is not just another bullshit buzzword designed to suck us in -- when you're trashing self-proclaimed Democrats?

Lesson I learned a long time ago, the hard way, from Christians: If a person says he's a Christian, then he is. It's not my place to say he's not.

And even if these people are total GOP trolls, why aren't you over there, slapping the shit out of them, instead of here, whining about what nasty boogers they are?

78. I see your point...
and I have a tendency to want to give people the benefit of the doubt, particularly if we share similar political leanings. What I won't do, is forgive homophobia, racism, etc just because the person happens to call themselves a Democrat. That's not to say I approach people with a sense of suspicion, but I've found that given a few moments to express themselves, particularly when they're angry, they're usually more than willing to let their real inner nature find its way to the surface.

I suspect alot of this hostility will die down as we get closer to choosing a nominee. At least I truly hope so. I think alot has been said on all sides to make unity somewhat difficult after we've all had a fairly heated exchange of ideas. But what we should never forgive, are those who supposedly espouse our ideas misrepresenting what and who we are. There should never be room for homophobes, racists, etc under our tent. That's not to say that there shouldn't be forgiveness. I have seen people, even within my own family, who made truly remarkable turn arounds and came to understand that their fear and intolerance wasn't rational.

I think ultimately one point you and others have made is really good and I'll leave it at that. While we can't control who calls themselves Democrats, or who hides under a progressive banner while secretly harboring regressive thought processes and intolerance, we CAN control what we bring to DU. I think ultimately the best choice would have been to simply leave the filth where it lie rather than bring it home for everyone to get upset over. I don't think the OP was intentionally creating drama, I think they may have been looking more to expose some of the small minded think that finds its way into the minds and mouths of people who call themselves Democrats, but act contrary to those claims.

...regardless of who it is. I think we all have our eyes on the prize and know that, more than any differences between Hillary and Obama, the important thing is that one of them gets into the White House. We have differences of opinions on who that should be, but in the end, we'll all pretty much rally around our candidate. Or would you seriously consider not voting or voting for a 3rd party candidate who has no chance of winning?

85. Please help me understand something here,
Do you think if you don't vote for OUR candidate/nominee in November, and heaven forbid they lose, do you really think the GLBT's will be better off?.?.?

Think about it. The Supreme Court will play an important role with the GLBT's issues, just like ALL the other issues concerning Civil Rights.

I haven't decided on who I will vote for, but I do know this much, I WILL VOTE FOR THE DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE and will do MY part in trying to get them elected to the White House.

I don't think it is worth the risk to sit it out. I'm not excited about either of our candidates, but I do think they both have a lot to offer, and I'm researching their policies to determine which one who get my vote come March 4.

I guess I'm having a hard time concerning the GLBT's distrust of Obama.

Didn't Bill Clinton fuck you up the ass without a kiss when he could have done more to promote your RIGHTS?.?.?

Most of my gay friends have passed away due to the AIDS epidemic. I do know without a doubt they would be voting for the Democratic candidate come November.

I've been told to "lighten up" a million times. Like every freaking time my rights are trampled over. And every time they've been denied. And every time a piece of legislation to guarantee my rights or grant me the rights I don't yet have fails to get through the legislature because the spineless Democrats don't want to offend the religious bigots, don't want to risk losing votes, don't want to take a stand for what is right or whatever the excuse du-jour is.

If you think for a minute that if Obama gets into the GE I won't just write-in HRC, Kucinich, House Plant or something else you're dead wrong. Or maybe I'll just write in GAY because I'm sick to death of taking it up the ass from the Democratic party without so much as a "please" or a "thank-you". And I don't even like it up the ass.

Like I've said many times here on DU, I do not hate Hillary Clinton.

18. I've always wondered...
what is up with the circular logo graphic the Hillary is 44 people have. It looks like a bandaid.

Please note, this is slam on the graphic designer for that one website, not the Hillary campaign.

MJS Says:

I think the smartest way to go aobut this would be to “concede” the McCain argument to Obama. lol. idk…but maybe scaring the Right Wing into thinking Obama is truly the strongest against McCain will encourage some anti-Obama action…lol.

For the most part, they are listening to Obama’s arguments that he is strongest McCAin foe and yawning.

If you think it will work, who am I to stop ya?

Oh yeah, an Obama Boy.

On edit:
Not a DU poster.

45. I went to your link, some pretty nasty posters over there
WOW, very interesting commentaries.

It really says a lot about some of Hillary's supporters and how they spew such hatred towards another Democrat. I would expect more from our Democrats, but then again after reading some of the things posted here, I guess I would be kidding myself.

51. With the people who boasted about posting at that hate site?
When they start supporting Obama, there can be some unity.

Till then, I'll just enjoy watching their heads explode.

57. Fuck, man, do you hear yourself?
You want to "reach out" to fucking REPUBLICANS, but when push comes to shove, with self-proclaimed DEMS, where's your devotion now?

"When they start supporting Obama, there can be some unity." So it's all on YOUR terms? Fuck everybody UNTIL they "start supporting Obama"?!

OMFG!

Do you SEE why so many of us "non-believers" don't buy your line?

Damn! What does it take to get through your cognitive dissonance?! :banghead:

But I am a person who voted for Hillary. Trust me. This is hell.

49. Gross.
From a "Highly Educated" Hillary supporter who won't be voting for him if he's nominated: "The only pleasure I would get in seeing Obama elected is to watch the Republican party and the media tear him apart"

Seriously, if that's the mindset, then she's doing us a favor by not being on our side when/if he's nominated. I mean that. It's exactly the hateful attitude I don't want to be associated with. We've already got one rabid party in this country whose leaders appealed to the worst in everybody. I want to rise above the rage and anger and obnoxious dogfights. I feel so tired of that and I'm over it.

DU is a big, happy family. :grouphug:

Quite frankly, I don't think we need that kinda of rhetoric from either side. If there is an obamais44.org type place then the same thing applies. Beating McCain is all I care about right now. If it's with Clinton, great. Obama, great too. Let's get it done!

73. I can't believe some Hillary supporters here.
They cry, 'This is no way to promote Unity!'

If they had any interest in Unity, they'd be pissed about HillaryIs44. Freepers are less rabid. That's just a fact.

80. Notice how the links of Hillaryis44 are always "coming soon!"
For example, the "Why Hillary?" or "Why not Obama?". Always COMING SOON. Since last summer, at least. That site is nothing but a pro-Hillary shill site that thinks yelling as loud as possible makes them right.

82. 'scuse Me
But you're talking about a website whose administrator is apparently anonymous, and whose domain records include zero information about who owns the domain.

Could be anyone.

I could go find more than a few Obama fan sites with plenty of posts made by cretins if I wanted.

But why, when I can see those posts right here on DU?
