1. I don't think Edwards fits as a VP for Obama
He needs someone with foreign policy experience.

I like Richardson as Obama's number 2

4. Really ???
The way he's been sucking up to the Clintons?? Plus the way his State doesn't know how to run an honest election? Read my post above your's. I think someone like Biden or Feingold would be better. Even Chris Dodd would be better than Richardson.

6. Richardson helps with Obama's perceived weakness with hispanic voters.
McCain could grab a significant chunk of that voting block and I don't want to lose them.

I'd love to see Feingold on the ticket.

10. Richardson won't be available for VP
In November, I think he'll still be busy trying to get the New Mexico Super Tuesday votes counted.

17. John Edwards for AG
is a great idea that Obama has already put out there...

I like Dodd, Biden... not Richardson so much. He sounds completely full of shit, even though I know he's not. Still not good.

Jim Webb? Bloomberg? Wes Clark?

26. Yesa nad Obama Did It while Edwards Was Still In The Race. Hell I am Nearly As Qualified On Paper
as Obama for crying out loud... The Guy is only here because he has a deep voice (from smoking) and speaks in parables. America is on a downward spiral because of the influence of the "MONEY PARTY" of which Obama/Hillary are prime agents. This primary has been "Manufactured" from DAY 1!

18. A month ago
I would've taken offense at the "scheming phony" comment. Now I'm not so sure. I wanted to believe in Edwards, but the perception that he was disingenuous definitely stuck.

To me it is obvious that Edwards and Obama are miles closer than Edwards and Clinton could ever be. If he endorses Hillary, I'll be convinced that it is out of sheer opportunism. Which makes him a sellout in my mind.

But I'll wait and see what he does. Until then, we should give him the benefit of the doubt.

Though I agree he should shit or get off the pot.

9. If Obama wins the nomination, he will feel a lot of pressure to choose
a female running mate, perhaps a governor.

12. Black + female = probably a bit too much change all at once for a lot of folks. Who knows for sure..
...though. This year is turning a lot of conventional wisdom on its head, isn't it?

11. suggestion of Obama/Edwards
Edited on Wed Feb-13-08 12:03 AM by Esya
So you think a populist sounding white male lawyer from the south with liberal dem values will balance a populist sounding elitist lawyer from Harvard/Chicago in terms of electability? On what basis? That they both belong to the Young Turks club? (look it up)

No foreign policy experience, no budget experience, no social policy experience---AH, now we are beginning to see the problem with Obama as the front runner, aren't we.....

And you can forget about Biden. He has much better sense, and clearly favored Hillary from the first debate.

14. I would hope so, but I doubt it.
Obama ridiculed Edwards for caring about the poor. My guess is that he will pick Clinton first - assuming she would accept the diminished role.

If not Clinton or Edwards, Richardson is a possibility, maybe Dodd...

21. Obama is going to have to go with a governor as VP
Richardson is a solid choice because his resume includes a great deal of foreign policy experience, including direct negotiations in the Middle East and with the North Koreans. He may also bring in the Latino vote, which would be a great plus.

A female governor on the ticket might also be a wise move, as it would negate the "sexism" crap being floated by some of the Hillbots. Janet Napolitano, anyone? I've seen Christine Gregoire suggested in other threads, but Washington state will vote for Obama regardless, and we don't need to give Dino Rossi another shot at stealing the governor's mansion.

Both Napolitano and Richardson are from the "Mountain West" where Obama has done well in the primaries, and needs to keep in our column in the General. Richardson has the better resume of the two, and considering that he's had opportunity to endorse Hillary, but hasn't done so, would lead me to believe he could be willing to talk to Barack.

speculate who will be a VP, who knows who will be the choice? But any one of the named chosen for VP will be pretty good. We need all the help we can get.

25. i cant see edwards
obama will choose somebody with some foreign policy cred, in my opinion. somebody to let us know that it's not all fluff.

edwards in many ways is similar to obama, charismatic, handsome, etc. i dont see how this fits into an obama ticket nearly as well as a hillary ticket who could use a little spash of youth and charisma.
