Obama lies about Clinton again.
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/345/

"She said, you know, 'I voted for it, but I hoped it wouldn't pass.' That was a quote on live TV."
Barack Obama on Sunday, February 10th, 2008 in a campaign rally in Alexandra, Va.

Clinton said she was “happy that it never became law.” He says she said, “ ‘I voted for it, but I hoped it wouldn’t pass.’ ” The thing is, being happy about something after it happens is not the same as hoping along the way that it wouldn't happen. And yet, the latter is how Obama characterizes Clinton's words.

We need to be clear on this point, given that Obama sets up his charge against Clinton as an example of “political talk” and follows it up with, “That kind of talk, I think it makes people not trust government.”

Absolutely, Clinton said she regretted her vote. And, had Obama phrased his charge differently, he would have a case here. But because he portrays her wording as a precise quote, and is so incorrect about it, we give him a False.

4. Wow!
Hillary supporters are reduced to arguing semantics. That's really sad and part of the reason that Hillary is fast becoming irrelevant. She is the past. America is tired of the same old swiftboat/bush/clinton politics. Your post illustrates this wonderfully.

14. That's my feeling, too. This place should be renamed Obama Underground.
The widespread hostility and mean-spiritedness by most of the Obama supporters towards the Clinton supporters could rival the anti-Dem rage on the rightwing websites. Ergo...

8. Has Obama given a speech lately where he does not twist and distort and outright lie about HIllary?
It seems Obama's version of change is to have as many democrats lying as possible, and then the rest snookered vis-à-vis Baby Bush.

Sad, really.

And tragic, too, that Obama supporters refuse to lean the lessons of the now-historic corrupt Bush administration.

Edited on Wed Feb-13-08 09:11 AM by Bread and Circus
now where's the "ah jeeze not this shit again" picture?

The "Obama lies about ___blank___" when they aren't really lies is getting old.

And the real point is she voted for it, siding with the banks over the individuals.

11. But Obama said "That was a quote on live TV". His inaccuracy is called to task here.
Not which quote was better or which quote was worse or which quote was up or which quote was down or which quote was....

And Obama is proving his inaccuracy grows.

26. Was he speaking from a prepared script?
If he was speaking off the cuff or simply replying to someone's question, then mistaking a paraphrase (particularly a paraphrase this is quite accurate) with the exact quote is hardly a hanging offense. He didn't mischaracterize her comment.

13. They lose their argument with the last sentence.
And, had Obama phrased his charge differently, he would have a case here. But because he portrays her wording as a precise quote, and is so incorrect about it, we give him a False.

The lead again:

"She said, you know, 'I voted for it, but I hoped it wouldn't pass.' That was a quote on live TV."

Had The St. Petersburg Times phrased their charge differently, they would have a case here. But because they portray his wording as a precise quote, and is so incorrect about it, I give them a False.

See how easy it is?

20. Man, that's a mountain out of a molehill, for sure.
So she wasn't hoping it wouldn't pass but when it didn't pass she was happy? If she was happy that it didn't pass, why wasn't she hoping it wouldn't pass? What changed for her? Apparently, it was just the fact that it didn't pass. If it had passed, would she say she's happy it passed? Is she just afraid of looking like she tried to do something and -gasp- failed? Is everything that happens OK with her after it happens, all the time? Is she just a sort of go-along person?

So many questions raised by your correction.

revealing something about his personality? i mean, i know that he is very much like GWB ... snooty, arrogant, and his lies are coming more and more to the forefront. he is said to be charismatic or someone with charm ... uh, oh! charm+lies+?= antisocial personality. obama seems to be scoring some points on the antisocial scale.
