Hillary Clinton Makes First of Three Rio Grande Valley Stops
Edited on Wed Feb-13-08 03:55 PM by bigtree
Feb 13, 2008 03:05 PM

Democrat Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton made the first of three Valley campaigns stops on Wednesday morning.

Flanked by more than 100 local political leaders at McAllen Convention Center, Clinton told a crowd of 2,000 supporters that she intends to build the first veterans hospital in the region.

"The Valley deserves a president who know where you are and won't forget about you," she told a cheering crowd.

During her Wednesday morning speech, Clinton told the crowd she first came to the Rio Grande Valley more than 36 years ago to register Hispanic residents to vote.

She is now promising the hospital, an end to the war in Iraq, sensible border security, immigration reform, universal healthcare and affordable college education.

Clinton also said she planned to create environmentally-friendly "green-collar" jobs as well as a 90-day moratorium on home foreclosures to address the nation's mortgage crisis.

"I'm in the solutions business, my opponent is in the promises business," she told an enthusiastic crowd amid cheers.

Clinton continued her Texas tour with a Wednesday afternoon campaign stop in San Antonio.

Democrats leaders announced Clinton would return be in Edinburg for a Feb. 20 rally at the University of Texas Pan American and a Feb. 29 rally at the McAllen Memorial Stadium.

8. We wouldn't need a solution for the Iraq War, for outsourcing, etc
without the Clintons helping to screw things up.

10. She didn't have a hand in her husband's advance of NAFTA, but Obama voted to expand it . . .
"Obama Says He Will Vote for NAFTA Expansion" :

Obama is the first presidential candidate to officially declare his/her support for the NAFTA expansion moving through the Congress. His announcement is not necessarily surprising, considering he was the keynote speaker at the launch of the Hamilton Project -- a Wall Street front group working to DRIVE A WEDGE between Democrats and organized LABOR on globalization issues. His announcement comes just days after a Wall Street

29. would be better it if was true...
she hasn't provided more concrete solutions in her years of political life than Obama. Just because she is more boring than him, doesn't make her more competent!

6. They've been promising a veteran's hospital in the Valley
FOR DECADES! (before flaming, please realize I grew up there & my dad worked closely with Kika de la Garza's office) They trot out that old promise every election cycle. Did President Clinton get us a veteran's hospital? No. Will President Clinton II get us a veteran's hospital? Not if that old saw is needed for the next election cycle.

I attended UTPA & McHi. She's probably going to appear at the gym at UTPA & Memorial Stadium is quite large. Both are much bigger than the Civic Center, & she'll probably fill them up.

16. Clinton had a chance
Ford had a chance. Carter had a chance. Reagan had a chance. Bush I & II had a chance. It's an empty promise.

9. If you haven't noticed some of the VA hospitals are being closed
So it will be hard to justify opening another one when many have closed.

11. That makes more sense
There isn't one in the entire region and veterans have to travel quite a long ways for care.
