Latino Lawmakers Upset Over Clinton Camp Shake-Up

By Patrick Healy

The anger in the Hispanic community over the ousting of Patti Solis Doyle as Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign manager continues to unfold, with two Hispanic legislators from Mrs. Clinton’s home state sending an open letter to her expressing their concerns. (They’re not the only ones voicing concerns.)

Given that Mrs. Clinton (not to mention Ms. Solis Doyle) spent months building a base out of Hispanic voters, does the move over the weekend — as Mrs. Clinton faced more losses — carry risks? Ms. Solis Doyle, the daughter of Mexican immigrants, was replaced by Maggie Williams, an African-American and a longtime, longtime Clinton adviser from their White House days. Ms. Solis Doyle has said that she will remain on the campaign as a “senior adviser.”

Text of the Latino lawmakers’ letter:

Dear Senator Clinton:

1. If she wasn't getting the job done they have no right to complain.
Race should not be the deciding factor for a campaign manager. If Hispanics are not part of the campaign in top position(s) that would be a different story.

And who is this Hispanic community? Just the latino lawmakers? Boo Hoo

2. Message: Hillary Clinton is racist and hates Hispanics

She hates blacks too, but that's an old message now. Worked great, though.

3. Didn't she replace the Latina with an African American?
Who knows about next week?

4. We are being split up

First it was race baiting
Then it was ...
now we are here
who is left?
Oh, I get it

First They Came for the Jews

First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me.
Pastor Martin Niemöller

5. Don't worry. The media will push this until the Hispanics in Texas decide againt
Hillary. Doyle should give Hillary some honest cover for this. I wonder if she will? And the fact that she was replaced by a black will not help either. And the beat goes on.

6. Yes, it will be hard for Clinton operatives on the M$M to promote that "brown-black divide meme"
that they started spewing on M$NBC's Tucker Carlson's show yesterday afternoon. :eyes:

7. So that's why Condi hasn't been replaced?
Edited on Thu Feb-14-08 09:42 AM by Ivote
Bush is afraid of a backlash?
That doesn't make sense Doyle was not performing her job so she was reassigned to help where she would be more useful
she was not fired
