Have any of you heard THIS reasoning behind "I can't support X"?
One of my co-workers who leans to the right (though very much in the center) said that he is very afraid of Obama becoming the nominee for fear that he would end up with a target on his back. Literally. He said he fears that there are radicals who are anxious to be forever ingrained in history for assassinating the first black president.

Then today I was speaking with my boss. He's an executive here and I do *NOT* talk politics with him ever. However, he had to go to Waukesha WI this AM and I warned him that traffic may be bad due to Bill Clinton speaking at 11:00 very near to his destination. Then *HE* said that he's concerned about Hillary becoming president for the same reason... lunatics waiting in the wings to assassinate her.

I am a bit baffled. Has anyone heard this reasoning about either/both Dem nominees? :wtf:

1. you might find this interesting:

(snip) How can the media cover a subject that nearly everyone’s thinking about, but is almost too abhorrent to discuss....

But giving the subject the silent treatment won’t go make it go away. The fact is that, for two distinct reasons — Obama’s race, and the perception that he’s an heir to the Kennedy legacy — a number of people are worried about his ability to stay out of harm’s way during and after the campaign. Sullivan says he hears these fears “all the time.” So does Shelby Steele, the Hoover Institution fellow and author of A Bound Man: Why We Are Excited About Obama and Why He Can’t Win (Free Press, 2007). “Many, many people have mentioned that to me,” he says, “usually in whispered terms, and quite nervously.” (snip)

4. I don't know if you are joking or not...........
but your idea of having an African-American or woman as VP might just deter some fundamentalist looney of taking a shot at the President!
