Texas House Democratic leader endorses Obama

Rep. Jim Dunnam, leader of the Texas House Democrats, switched his support from John Edwards to Barack Obama today, saying Texans are tired of politics as usual.

“In Texas — and across the rest of the country — we want a president who will finally put doing what is right above corporate special interests and radical partisan agendas,” Dunnam, D-Waco, said in a statement. “We want change we can believe in, not the same old Washington-style promises made and promises broken.”

The goals of Texas House Democrats — improving public schools and providing health care coverate to the uninsured — would be best served by Obama in the White House, Dunnam added.
