Obama needs to win, but his Supporters are often Terribly Unfair to Hillary Clinton
Edited on Thu Feb-14-08 08:55 PM by Mike03
I keep hearing/reading that Hillary voted for the bankruptcy bill, when according to the Ray Taliafero show on KGO, San Francisco, the truth of the matter is that she voted for the first rough draft of the bill, then expressed regret about it, and then voted against it when it was reintroduced.

And some of his supporters, including (my favorite) Ray Taliafero, have decided over the past two months that suddenly Bill Clinton was a horrible president and that Hillary is also a terrible person. This is bullshit. Bill Clinton was the first president in my lifespan that I liked and respected, and he, along with Gore, inspired me to care about politics and be proud of my country. It's disgusting to me when people deride the Clinton administration in order to pump up Obama. They are all good people.

Why do Obama supporters have to be so nasty, dishonest and deceitful when representing Hillary Clinton's record? Can't they just champion Obama without trying to put down Hillary Clinton??

These are two wonderfully educated, inspired, devoted and decent human beings, and they want to do their best. Why should it be necessary to humiliate, destroy or rewrite the history of any of our candidates?

The only strike against Obama is... his supporters.

He's the perfect candidate, but some of his supporters SUCK.

1. You shouldn't glean anything from DU--just think of all the assholes who recently got banned.

This is not a place where people come to be fair.

23. There have been idiots on both sides all along this route. I am
for Edwards in my heart still and I have been late to the table in examining the others. But I will say, all the shit that passes through this board doesn't help people like me one bit. Nothing but nah-nah-nah, _______ is a ____________!!!!! Really, if some of the people on this board could just step back and read the crap that flows here, they might be embarrassed. So, Hillary people think Obama people are assholes. I assume that means Obama people think Hillary people are assholes. Such is the level of 'discourse' on this board lately. By the time this three year horse race is over, some of us think everyone is an asshole, including the candidates.

That's what makes this Murika.

2. Some of everyone "suck"
Most Obama supporters are not nasty or dishonest or deceitful. Some may be. And some supporters of Hillary Clinton may be that way too. Most are just trying to make the right decision.

3. They turn me off, that's for sure
But as the poster before me noted, it's probably more a characteristic of some DU Obama supporters. Anyway, we all need to make sure not to judge a candidate by his or her most annoying supporters.

6. Indeed, it would seem to be equal opportunity suckage.
I saw that before I became a supporter of Obama, and I'm sure it hasn't changed, though my perception has been skewed to only see the unfairness to Obama.

5. True but some of Hillary's supporters
suck too, no one though should hold that against either candidate. Neither candidate is responsible for their supporter's rude obnoxiuos behavior. Decide on the issues and not on the behavior of supporters.

Obama got where he is because he has out-campaigned Hillary, plain and simple, and because he is FAR more electable in the general election. GO OBAMA !!!!

16. Ray Taliiafero is not the Senate record
HRC voted for the bankruptcy bill in 2001 - she voted against a DIFFERENT bankruptcy bill in 2005.

The reason Clinton's years are evaluated is that HRC is running on them.

17. Not true and I take offense at your heading.
I am not the only member of DU who feels that either candidate will make a GREAT POTUS. I am not the only DUer who is tired of all this "well I'll hold my nose" pledges when it comes to voting for whomever gets the nomination. I have said this before and I keep saying this: I am an Obama supporter who will most cheerfully and enthusiastically support Senator Clinton should she get the nomination. I have given my most profound thanks to supporters of both candidates for working so hard to get them where they are today.

I have absolutely no doubts that either candidate can and will utterly trounce mCcain in the November elections. bush is sitting at less than 25% approval rating, mCcain seeks to tie his campaign to bush! WE THE PEOPLE want change, NOT more bush! I will be surprised if mCcain even winds up with 1/3rd of the votes even with diebolds help!

You are correct that there are problems here in the DU...but not all of us ARE the problem even if we must share in with those problems. I support the tombstoning of those who work tirelessly to divide We THe People by spreading the message of FEAR. (Way to go DU ADMIN!)

Let me say here and now: Senator Clinton and Senator Obama fill me with HOPE! My heart soars over knowing that soon the bush reign of terror may come to an end and Senator Clinton or Senator Obama will be the instrument of that ending. That is good enough for me.

My most profound THANK YOU to :patriot: supporters :patriot: of Senator Clinton and Senator Obama for bringing these two GREAT candidates this far. YOU ROCK!!!

24. I second that
I am for Obama but I would be fine with either candidate going against McCain. John McCain is going to get trounced in November. BUT, we must unite by the convention because if we have an ugly civil war inside the party then we are only helping to put a Republican in the White House.

18. You're placing far too much emphasis on the DU dynamic.
Edited on Thu Feb-14-08 09:26 PM by TexasObserver
When it gets down to two candidates, it's always ugly, ugly, ugly. If Barack were gone and it were Edwards v. Hillary, it would be the same.

Partisans on a board bitching at each other is not representative of anything except partisans on a board bickering at each other.

When you disparage his supporters, all you're doing is rationalizing more of the same.

The complaints about Bill and Hill are legit. They've been putting themselves above the party's best interests forever, and now it's really sickening.

They are like guests who don't know when to leave and go home.

To paraphrase you, some of Barack's supporters critics really SUCK, and maybe you're one of them.

I think you're providing a perfect example of what the OP is talking about. I've read some of your other posts here tonight -- iincluding one thread of yours I thought had to be a joke -- and frankly, if I were you I wouldn't be so quick to call other people fools.

26. The repukes accused Gore of being unfair to Bush everytime Gore challenged Bush on his bullshit
so Gore was forced to hold his fire. Hillarycamp is engaging in the same Rovian tactics of always playing the victims. Never again!
