I am writing to ask you to support the Democratic Presidential candidate who obtains more pledged delegates. I do so for the following reasons:
1). I believe in democracy. Not all superdelegates are elected by the voters (Missouri has 5 DNC members).
2). If the superdelegates decide against the will of the voters the resulting internal party conflict will have a very negative effect on the Democratic party for years to come.
3) I, and many like me, may not support a nominee that the majority of Democrats did not vote for. I was born the year that you went to congress and I trust that you will stand for the principles that maintain a vibrant democracy and an invigorated conscientious Democratic party.
end
By the way, those here who would support the nominee no matter what our party or the candidate has done, may "win" in November, and lose for years to come. The fact that McCain is a much greater evil does not give us cause to accept the demise of our progressive principles merely to win. Because when our party becomes what we are fighting against... When it is time to protest movements toward dictatorship however deceptively dressed in party unity, our progressive conscience may be standing opposite of us with a sign.
