Obama Endorsed by Joe Duuuuuuumars!
As a native Detroiter, I have to post this.

NBA Great Dumars Backs Obama, Afraid Of Super-Delegates

Sam Stein
The Huffington Post

First there was Magic. Then there was Kareem. Now Joe Dumars, the preeminent defensive force in the NBA during the league's 1980's heyday, is weighing into campaign 2008.

In a Thursday interview with ESPN basketball columnist Chad Ford, Dumars offered up some less-than dogmatic support of Sen. Barack Obama for being what he deems the anti-status quo candidate.

"I'm a big Clinton fan, man," said the current Detroit Pistons general manager. "Barack seems to be uniting people though. And I think that's why you see so much of a ground swell behind him because at least he is speaking of something different than the status quo, business as usual. I think people are hungry for that and that's why you see him have such momentum behind him. So I am going to go with the guy that is not staying with the status quo."

More!

For those of you discounting this as the endorsement of "just another basketball player"

"Dumars became the Pistons' President of Basketball Operations prior to the 2000-01 NBA season. He was voted the league's Executive of the Year for the 2002-03 season and quietly went on to build the team that won the 2004 NBA Championship and became the 2005 NBA Eastern Conference Champions—doing so largely with players who had been discarded by other franchises."

Now that's somebody who knows a thing or two about running an organization!

Oh yeah, that was totally worth a post!

I wonder if Rasheed Wallace has endorsed yet! ;)

1. Yeah basketball players!
Excuse me? Who cares?

There's a guy who knows a thing or two about playing a boring game for obscene amounts of money.

3. I don't see the need to respond like that.
I can't stand the NBA either but the poster clearly wasn't too serious about this endorsement.

2. Hey, that's Madison Square Garden
I was probably at that game...

As long as Isiah doesn't endorse we should be fine. Time has taught us who the truly great person in that backcourt was.

7. His management of the Pistons prove Dumars is a top executive
His work for them has proved him one of the smartest, sharpest, most capable executives in the entire NBA, a multi billion dollar business.

10. They talk about Isiah Thomas and Bill Laimbeer as the cog of the "Bad Boys."
But it was Dumars who was the key cog of those teams.

Go Dumars and Gobama!
