If and when Clinton loses Wisconsin or Hawaii on 2/19
Will she still go on, or completely concede everything? Obama will be winning both states by 21%+ (and you can bookmark this thread and check my predictions later). Since the pledged delegates continue to pile, the superdelegates has already begin turn around and going to Obama, and that is of my opinion that Hillary Clinton's campaign is in critical condition and the paddles are already being cranked to 500 joules and the campaign isn't responding...

1. 21%? He leads by only 4-5% in Wisconsin in every poll
Hawaii is his home state so he should romp there. Everyone expects it.

POLLS DOESN'T MEAN SHIT UNTIL THE VOTERS HAVE SAID THEIR ANSWERS!

12. From what I am hearing from our Wisconsin family and friends
the only people the pollsters are getting in touch with are the folks that aren't out shoveling snow, and those people won't be able to get out of their driveways on Tuesday anyway....

44. The pollsters don't have "own a snowblower/doesn't own one" in
their statistics, so who knows? Madison has gotten 83 inches of snow so far this winter with more on the way, so I think that the change candidate will have an advantage there.

4. The Wisconsin polling has them much closer. Obama packed the Kohl
venue on Tuesday -- something between 17,000 and 20,000 or so -- not bad for a weeknight, IMO, and Senator Clinton is scheduled for a rally on Sunday evening, which from most weather maps will be an event attended by polar bears and caribou, as 6-plus inches of snow is likely to fall on Sunday.

I don't know what's going on in Hawaii, but my guess is they aren't going to have nearly as much snow this weekend as Wisconsin.

17. 6" of snow isn't going to stop anybody.
A foot will admittedly slow things down in Wisconsin for a couple hours, but the sled dogs won't even notice another 6".

26. but this snow, JR. The weather sites are saying ice as well as accumulating
snow.

That's going to make it dangerous for motorists.

The Great Lakes states surely do have hearty souls to withstand the winter months.

More power to 'em, and I hope everybody drives carefully.

39. That ice stuff is forecast for down in the south. Like Milwaukee
or something. It has to get above freezing before you get ice.

One time I was walking down the street in Superior and I overheard this guy ask his friend, "My God, how long does winter last around here?" His friend said, "How the hell should I know? I only been here 26 months myself."

9. Consistent 5% lead for Obama with about a 10% undecided, not a slam dunk
Edited on Fri Feb-15-08 11:29 PM by Johnny__Motown
Although the Clinton campaign isn't devoting many resources to this contest. It would seem that their own polling is telling them something we don't know.

Everyone expects Obama to win both these contests. She has been looking past them for a week.

Monona Terrace.

The weather forecast for Sunday is ice and snow, maybe 6" or more for parts of southern Wisconsin.

Edited on Sat Feb-16-08 01:33 AM by Bok_Tukalo
Instead of thinking her internal polling is having her losing badly maybe it is telling her she has a chance and with all the crazy expectations games going on, even a close loss can change things. A win is New Hampshire all over again.

34. I'm sure she'd love to win in Wisconsin. The Sunday appearance is going
up against a winter storm for all of southern Wisconsin, so it could have a big impact on turnout at that venue.

The polling right now shows a close race.

... and most of the "roundtable" talk about the Clinton campaign said she should not wait until March 4th and should try to blunt the Obama momentum now. I think all that talk (probably in the real world if it reached the TEEVEE) has her making some effort in the state.

36. Possible. Also, she just switched campaign managers, and that may be
having some ripple effects, too.

Senator Clinton needs to phone up her Ivy League Alumni office and get an old English-major classmate or two to write some speeches for her. She is vulnerable on that count, IMO, under normal circumstances, nevermind against someone with Obama's orator's skill.

41. Hillary will declare any loss of under 20 points to be a "victory"
When a candidate has detached from reality, as Hillary has, they simply cannot process that they're getting their butt kicked. Her delusion is all she's got left.
