I spent the day in Tyler attending a very positive rally. All candidates were mentioned with compliments given to all of them.
Bill Clinton spent quite a bit of time outlining Hillary's healthcare plan, education, Iraq War positions and financial support that needs to be given to our veterans. Also spoke of rebuilding the VA Hospitals.
It was held at Tyler Junior College to a standing-room only capacity of at least 800. For those of you that KNOW Tyler, you will know that it is a very conservative town. There were a few republican disruptors but he shut them down quickly when they yelled "cut and run".
There were multitudes of media present--inside and out.
The cross-section of people attending was pretty amazing--very young, very old, all ethnicities and everything in between...but again, amazingly enough, most appeared to be working class people.
My daughter and I attended and met Crispini there. She was delightful and was very cool to meet a fellow DU'er.
We were positioned behind a couple of older men--one was Black and one was White. They were sharing laughs reading a George W. Bush failure book. They were pretty entertaining to watch because they were so tickled.
There was a bald guy standing to our side. He was VERY passionate. I know he had a story...my guess is that he was an Iraqi war veteran.
There was just something about him. I would have loved to know.
Crispini took the time to explain the electoral system in Texas to some gray-haired ladies and they were very appreciative of her help.
Clinton signed autographs, talked to people, moved through the crowds, and allowed pictures to be taken.
Apparently as he was leaving in his caravan, there were multitudes of young people standing on the "escape route" and he stopped the SUV and got out and was working the crowds of young college kids. They were hooping and hollering.
It was a GREAT day.
