I knew it all along...Edwards, along with Gore, will ENDORSE--

An excerpt from today's NY Times article:

"At a private dinner that Mr. Edwards, a former senator, held at his home last Saturday for a dozen close friends, he said he had spoken recently with Mr. Gore about the benefits of neutrality, someone who was at the dinner said. Although a number of his supporters had been urging him to endorse Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton has actively sought his backing, Mr. Edwards said he intended to remain on the fence for the time being, the person said.

A senior associate of Mr. Gore’s said that surrogates for Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama had tried to lock up the former vice president’s endorsement. But he has steadfastly refused to even hint at which candidate he might favor."

Notice that this meeting took place BEFORE Edwards postponed his first, much-ballyhooed meeting with Obama in favor of a gettogether on the down-low, at least allegedly.

Sorry guys, but I was expecting this for some time now, especially when a week of "Will he? Won't he?" turned into "Nope, he won't." Just leave it Al to promote harmony, or at least a lack of infighting, within the Democratic party. :)

8. Very important stuff in this article. It says to me that

#1 - The Party Elders are not going to allow the ex post facto seating of the Florida and Michigan Delegates decide the race, and that is a good thing.

#2 - They also seem to be intent on not allowing a brokered convention to happen. They are going to intervene at the end of the primary season and sit down with both campaigns to resolve this. that sounds to me like either an Obama/Clinton or Clinton/Obama ticket by negotiation.

That is how I read it.

9. This likely explains why the Edwards-Obama meeting didn't happen.

Obama doesn't feel like he NEEDS the endorsement, he respects Edwards' neutrality. Whereas, Hillary is desperate for any little crumb that gives her a headline. This race is slipping away from her and she knows it. If she doesn't know it, well then she needs to step away from Mark Penn for a while.
