Young superdelegates stay cool toward Obama
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0208/8556.html

"Few demographic groups are more enamored of Sen. Barack Obama than the young. Yet among the youthful voters who might end up mattering most to his campaign — the 19 Democratic superdelegates who are under the age of 36 — Obama appears to be considerably less popular.

According to a Politico analysis, just six of the 19 youngest superdelegates favor Obama. Sen. Hillary Clinton has support from four of these superdelegates, with 9 others remaining uncommitted.

Figures compiled by Politico show that, in the overall superdelegate count at the moment, Clinton leads Obama with 242 superdelegates to his 160.5. There are 318.5 uncommitted superdelegates. (Some superdelegates only receive a half-vote.)

Obama’s softness among the youngest of superdelegates is unusual given his popularity with young voters in general — he has captured the under-30 youth vote in all but three states so far. In a closely-divided nominating contest that might be decided by the more than 700 Democratic superdelegates, the loss of even a few could prove costly, not to mention ironic if those superdelegates came from one of Obama’s demographic strongholds."

1. That article is written unfavorably towards Obama.

They could also write it as "Obama leads Hillary in young super delegates by over 30%." Oh well.

7. Jesus--it's "POLITICO!!!!!" They usually treat the guy with kid gloves....
and give him preferred treatment.

I can't tell you how many times I've seen that piece of shit website quoted with favorable tales about the anointed one, and when I point out what it is--a rightwing frontspiece for Albritton Communications--I've been shouted down.

Funny. Now they're crapping on the 'other' favored candidate.

They must think he's going to win the nom, so it's not too soon to start shitting on him and getting those negative memes out there; the better to rocket McCain to victory--at least that's their plan.

Let the games begin.

9. Ben Smith from Politico has been pretty good.
I've heard people say it's a right wing rag, and I see that their funding is right wing. I have to say though, that most of the stuff posted is from Ben Smith. And Smith has been pretty fair so far. He gets lots of juicy info and he doesn't seem to take sides. I don't know about the rest of politico, but he seems OK.

14. Believe what you want. But the OWNERS of that outfit are the ones who
were responsible for pushing Bill Maher's "Politically Incorrect" off the air.

The Albritton family are the Scaifes of the airwaves, and that 'swell' Ben Smith is their waterboy.

Everyone just LOOOVED Tim Russert, too, with his avuncular nature and his "I Just Love My Paw" books, until the shit he was shovelling got too deep and too stinky to ignore.

2. To be a young super delegate requires an allegiance to traditional politics
They dont become super delegates at a young age by expressing independant thought.

They were former heads of various college youth groups in college, or even relatives of older, establishment Democrats.

The traditional politician in this race is Hillary, so this isnt too surprising.

4. Obama 6, HIllary 4, Uncommitted 9
Looks like they are being responsible with their vote depending on how their states vote.

5. Does that say something about Obama
or about those younger folks chosen as super delegates.

BTW, does a half vote break a tie?
I personally think half votes are for second class citizens.

Half are uncommitted, six support Obama, four support Hillary, and Obama's the "villian" in this non-story?

15. Wexler on Randi's show said the superdelegates will vote with the public. I respect his integrity.
