5. Ah, that's the photo I was lookin' for!
Charlie...such a lucky little feller.:)

So I guess if you want a golden ticket to the CNN Democratic Debate, you'll have to get out those presidential kneepads and do a little honka on Willie's Wonka?

And I ain't talkin' about Willie Nelson, either...

8. *Definitely* not good
This is not the Democratic Party I grew up with in TX. Things have changed drastically since the days of Ann Richards.

Oh, what we wouldn't give to have the results of the 1994 Gubernatorial election reversed!!! It was all downhill from there.

Once Shrub took over, we Texans got a taste of what the rest of the country was in for...and now the whole world has had a bellyfull!

3. CNN is certainly wielding its weight when it comes to debates. Do you
remember they cancelled a Dem debate (I think in Boston) that was scheduled right before Iowa? Their reasoning was that there had already been several debates, and there would be a debate in NH soon anyway. Huh? People wanted to see the candidates again BEFORE Iowa. AND, they didn't cancel a REPUBLICAN debate they had scheduled.

This is really shameful that We The People can't attend a debate between the two people we're deciding on to become our next President.

It all just keeps getting more and more fucked -- maybe I should say WE keep getting more and more fucked over.

I really enjoyed reading the story of LBJ and Lady Bird. And loved the photo of JKF and LBJ! Wish he was here now to kick CNN's butt.

4. Come to think of it, yes I do remember that!

Wasn't that canceled debate supposed to be at the JFK Library in Boston?

It really does burn my ass that the LBJ Presidential Library is a sponsor of this debate, UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES.

If Lyndon were here, he'd have a few choice words for local party leaders and the other geniuses who made this boneheaded decision.

"Ya'll come"...that was the motto of the Texas Democratic Party in the days of LBJ. Lordy Lord, what happened to them???

We need to get on the horn this week to CNN, Univision, The LBJ Library, UT, the TX Democratic Party, etc...and give `em the dreaded "Johnson Treatment."

Hope all the good Democrats will lend us a hand. Spread the word.

6. Bulls on Parade. Sing it Obama supporters, outside the debate.
Edited on Sun Feb-17-08 01:08 AM by TexasObserver
Obama supporters! They can keep you out, but you can gather outside in force.

CNN has been trying to help Hillary in every way they can. This is part of it. They want to keep out any of the rank and file Democrats in favor of the Aristocrats.

But you can make them walk past you and you can let them see and hear you there. If 10,000 Obama fans gather OUTSIDE, guess who will get covered by all the outlets except CNN? YOU.

(Rally round the family, with a pocket full of shells. Bulls on Parade)

Hear Zach sing it.

7. Exactly what should happen! Let those cameras see ya'll.
I hear there is a gathering planned outside the arena starting at 5:15pm.

Come one, come all...we need a lot of folks to get in front of those cameras and show `em what "Don't Mess With Texas" really means!

10. But, will it be a hand-picked
"very diverse population"? Wasn't there an earlier debate where the crowd was hilaryized?..from cnn?

"The audience will be made up of a very diverse population and a very diverse public, including a very strong representation of students,” said Susan Binford, assistant dean at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, which is helping to organize the event. “It’s a priority for us to have students and to have many, many students in the event.”

12. Perhaps a "very diverse population" in the audience means...
that the attendees will be elected officials from various districts around the state. Heh.

In the twisted, convoluted pretzel logic of today's TX Democratic Party, that might possibly fit the definition of "very diverse."

13. Too late to rec, here's a kick
Unbelievable. The only use the honchos have for us is when we vote or give money, apparently.

14. The folks down here are mad as HELL about this
UPDATE: As of Thursday, more than 10,000 people had signed up for the drawing of 100 "golden tickets".

As of Friday, that number had jumped to an astonishing 26,000.

No word what the number is today (presumably because of the holiday), but I'd be willing to wager the number may have topped 100,000 by now.

Y'know, larger venues ARE available in this town....
