I ( as a German) saw yesterday the movie, what can you Americans tell me about this Clinton story?

Do we have to go threw this again?

How much is true?

Please help me to understand.

We came in 1996..............!

Thanks in advance

I need to now how you are seeing it.

1. Hello, elf. Wie gehts?
The film is based on a book published first anonymously.

There may be dramatic embellishment but we cannot be certain because many of the situations were private and there are no exact records of the language or actions.

The 60 MINUTES interview is true.

The political outcome is also true, although the reasons for it are sometimes private and the author tells the story from a private observer's point of view.

I liked the film. I am not really a fan of John Travolta, but I think he was very good in this film. And Emma Thompson was terrific.

2. The last line is what gets to me. "Just don't break our hearts." Which he did of course.
Everything from granting "most favored" nation status to China, to selling out gays with "don't ask, don't tell." From cutting the legs out from women and children on welfare to having his head turned by a skank in a thong.

Here on the pulse of this new day...my ass

5. Perhaps we should get Emma Thompson to run for the white house?
After all she is a better actress than Hillary and her tears are more convincing. Only joking.

I did wonder about the parallels between Vince Foster's suicide and that of the Kathy Bates character in the film. The Clinton's hearts probably are in the right place but have they just become so tainted by the pursuit of power that they have lost their way (i.e. the message of the film). I fear however Hillary's heart will be broken shortly - unless something dramatic happens she won't be dancing at the inauguration ball next January.
