Poll question: Dynasty.
Edited on Sun Feb-17-08 01:30 PM by Labors of Hercules
To get an idea of where the tide here at DU is running regarding this question:

Would you have any reservations about voting for Hillary Clinton were she NOT Bill Clinton's wife?

1. Bill as Hillary's version of Dick Cheney is frightening enough
since we know that it will be progressives and the antiwar movement that will be the primary targets.

2. Why does Obama keep appealing to dynasties to endorse him? Kennedys, Chafees, etc.

8. There's a difference between being Congressional leaders vs. President.
Edited on Sun Feb-17-08 01:38 PM by Labors of Hercules
I don't think anyone here had a problem with Hillary becoming a Senator, for example.

Just saying the Kennedys AINT the same thing as the Bushes and (possibly) The Clintons.

4. "GOP wedge meme"
Not wanting either another Clinton or another Bush in the WH isnt a Party issue.

Its an issue of common sense.

11. I Care SOLELY About The Individual And Whether Or Not They'd Make A Great President.
Bill = Great President

Hillary = Would be a great president.

That's all that fucking matters. She's an individual, like you and me. Judge her on her own merits. The whole family argument is just plain fucking dumb.

13. I don't think its "fucking stupid" to have reservations
about the fact that the entire time since I was first eligible to vote we have had either Clinton or Bush in the white house, and that twenty of my thirty years of living on this earth have been under the leadership of the same two American families.

That may not be a reason to vote for Obama. But it *IS* a reason to have reservations about voting for Clinton. Twenty years of Clintush is enough.

12. Her position on the war to start!
Then, there's the Clinton position on NAFTA & "Free Trade." Hillary is continuing the tradition with her overtures toward the big Indian companies, like TATA, that are doing the outsourcing of American jobs.

15. It was a great show
It gave Heather Locklear her start and had an awesome theme song:

Though it couldn't approach Dallas' theme song:

16. I don't care about dynasties. Kennedy and Roosevelt anyone?
Edited on Sun Feb-17-08 02:07 PM by Alexander
I have many other valid reasons for opposing Senator Clinton, such as:

-Her vote for the IWR for political purposes, and refusal to apologize for it

-Her vote against the Levin Amendment to the IWR

-Her vote for Kyl-Lieberman

-Mark Penn

-Bill Clinton's presidency touted as "experience" for her, except all the bad stuff

-She sold out on health care after private meetings in the 90s

-Monsanto

-Her vote for the first Bankruptcy Bill

-Her refusal to say she'll repeal all of DOMA

-Her vote against banning cluster bombs

-She won't commit to calling off the DEA on medical marijuana patients

Would you like any more?
