A campaign rally tip if your state hasn't voted yet....
And this is for both Obama and Hillary supporters, in the interest of DU unity :)

I'll start by saying that I have a sister who's very creative and a good Dem. In 2004, after making plans to go to a Kerry rally, she scrounged up a couple of t-shirts, took some fabric paint and put "KERRY '04" on them and then glued a few blue and red stars on them. I was kind of taken aback by it but hey, at least she can color between the lines so I put mine on for the rally.

We got into a huge line in 90 degree heat. Within 15 minutes a campaign staffer pulled us out of line, gave us VIP tickets and we were front row when Kerry spoke. They like this grassroots support thing, I guess.

So, when Obama was coming to town last month we cracked jokes about her lucky t-shirts and she once again set to work with her fabric paint and stars. And once again there was a huge crowd. Within a minute of walking into the hall we were approached by a campaign staffer and asked if we'd like to sit on the podium behind Barack when he spoke. I tried not to laugh because I think these shirts are kind of godawful but damn - they work! And we got great seats behind Obama for his rally.

If you want good seats (and don't have a lot of pride!) at your candidates rally take a few minutes to fashion your own candidate shirt. All it has to be is colorful and not sloppily done. Make the words big enough to read from a distance. I know it sounds dumb, but hey, it seems to work. Just take good pictures for the rest of us :)

2. Thanks
I'll do just that if Obama comes to Carnegie Mellon. Kerry actually came here when I was a freshman, and it was a fun rally.

5. I do
Mine came out kind of terrible, though, because we were directly facing the bank of lights for the media coverage and I didn't adjust my camera settings. My sister took much better ones, and as soon as I get them from her I'll post them.

Here's what I got, though:

8. lol
Yeah, my light settings were really terrible and that bank of lights was just so intense. I got a throbbing headache from looking into them by the time I got home.

I wish I could have smoked! I would have.

9. you know, I don't
I really should have had someone take a photo. The next time he's here, hopefully for the GE, we'll wear them again and I'll be sure to get a picture.

10. That's a cool idea
My partner and I were pulled out of the crowd during a Hillary event. It was nice because we got to sit in the front and didn't have to fight the crowd. We were also able to get our picture taken with Hillary.
