As reported here last August, Mr. Wang recorded a kitschy yet catchy tribute to Senator Clinton dubbed “Hillary4U&Me.” Then he and a bunch of friends and relatives recorded a music video for the song, and he posted it on YouTube.

Then came the backlash.

The video went largely unnoticed until this week, when it started making the blog rounds. A blossoming chorus of critics is calling the song “cringe-inducing,” and saying that it could do more harm than good for Clinton. Some conspiracy theorists have even posited that the video must have been secretly created and planted by Obama supporters intent on damaging his competitor through song.

You can halt the Zapruder talk right there. The composer and video maker was indeed Mr. Wang, a serial high-tech entrepreneur who sold his company Bitfone to Hewlett-Packard in 2006. He said he’s willing to concede that he may not have the star power of will.i.am’s Obama-backing crew, but he’s sticking by the song’s larger themes.

“I do agree that some of the Obama videos are better. But we have the better candidate by far,” he wrote in an e-mail message. He added: “For all the naysayers, I’d like to see their YouTube music video.”

He believes that the criticism is born of the antagonism some Obama supporters feel toward Clinton. And, far from being discouraged, he said the critics have inspired him: “It kind of makes me want to do another one.”

4. I don't see how anybody thought he was a 'plant'

granted... it's terrible music and terrible dancing.. but I never got the impression that he was trying to make Hillary look bad.
