"The revolution will not be televised...'
Edited on Mon Feb-18-08 06:59 AM by Skidmore
I remember some DUer has had that as a signature line for a while (sorry I can't remember who at the moment). Not a truer statement can encapsulate the events of the past year or two. The revolution is here. It has not occurred in the halls of power or on the high-definition screens of the media. It has been forming around water coolers in work places where workers have been losing ground. It has been happening in the waiting rooms of doctors' offices and hospitals where people learn that their health is not worth the profit margin of a corporation. It has been happening around kitchen tables when families discuss how to make it to the next paycheck, meet the mortgage payment, pay the tuition, buy clothing, pay for gas to get to work, and how much the grocery budget doesn't meet the needs. It has been happening at the wakes of soldiers slaughtered in an illegal war or in hushed tones around hospital beds of the wounded. All that has been lacking is someone to harness the power of the revolution and to give it voice. The revolution has happened. The government and the media will figure it out later.

1. All that bad news has to be hidden or given short shrift, and fluff or fear used instead.

Notice all the stories that are human interest, but not really news. As tragic as murder is, when one occurs, it's not really news.

6. This is something millions of us see and feel and are thrilled to be a part of. Not only
will the govt and media figure it out later, those who rail against it now and demean its importance will clearly see it when it happens. I just wonder if they'll still be sitting on the sidelines, throwing rotten eggs.
