Obama GOTV Meeting in my town in Ohio was filled with Independents & Newbies!
In '04 I organized a Kerry/Edwards group in my 13,000 inner-ring suburb that had several hundred GOTV volunteers. We quickly handled the activities in our 13 precincts and moved on to work low income Af Am precincts that adjoin our town. These were the precincts that encountered 5+ hour waits to vote in the pouring rain in Ohio in '04 while it took me just 15 minutes at the height of morning rush (~7:45 am). (NOTE: THE FRANKLIN COUNTY DEM CHAIR SAID NO MIS-ALLOCATION OF MACHINES-imagine that!) Anyways, this year I wanted to focus on the nearby low income precincts that were previously disenfranchised. This means working with an Obama staffer outside my town as the Obama campaign uses congressional districts instead of areas of the city (Ohio is very gerrymandered from years of Republican dominance in the state legislature). I attended a group meeting last night for my town and there was a great turnout and more important-almost everyone there was new to working on campaigns and the woman who organized the event was an independent! There was even a group of high school students who are working on the campaign by making you tube videos among other things.

I have a great feeling about Ohio for Obama!

Please, if you've never been active before consider getting involved this time! I've made great friends from 4 years ago and it sure beats the animosity here at GD-Primaries. You can find events near where you live by going to the Obama website or create your own and post them on the site!

6. Obama '08
Thank you very much for your support. I was very active here in Connecticut and we shocked the world and Shrillary when we delivered CT for Obama on 5 February Super Tuesday. Now we hope that our brothers and sisters in Texas and Ohio work hard to deliver those two states to Obama (and finally see the Wicked Witch of Chappaqua melting once and for all)

5. It's much easier than it was in the past-you can download phone banking and
find events much more easily than in the past.

Great to hear you're working in NJ! :hi:

4. I'm a Precinct Captain for Obama
and it is such a thrill to meet so many people that are on the same TEAM.

I've made many new friends and loved the events.

Just being there to see Caroline and Oprah and Michelle was awesome.

Jump on the bandwagon, get involved!

I'm in California but we'll be making calls to Texas starting tomorrow.

His campaign is so well organized and Hi Tech!

Fired Up and Ready to Go!
