By any means necessary . Do the ends justify the means?

How far will you go and what lines will you cross so that your candidate gets the nod?
Would you rather have President McCain in office in 2009 without the possibility of change?
Or the opposing Democratic candidate that you are NOT campaigning for and at least have a chance for change?
Would you rather win by losing? (my guy or no guy)
Do you hold that much hate for Mrs. Clinton Or Mr. Obama that you would rather give the republicans 8 more years?
I just wonder?

3. That's obvious with their opinions of Superdelegates and their desire to seat MI and FL delegates.
Oh wait-they're calling superdelegates "automatic delegates." Doesn't that smell of Rovian politics of changing names of things to their advantage like the "Clean Air Initiative" or the "Terror Surveillance Act." :eyes:

25. Huckabee isn't giving up, either. If she doesn't win TX, OH, and PA BIG, she can stay in
'til the cows come home. She'll still be the loser.

4. This is what I am talking about.
little things like this.
We blame them they blame us it's tit for tat and it just promotes negativity.
I am supporting Obama just like you and this negativity needs to stop on all sides.
Not all Clinton and Obama supporters are doing this.
Many are sane, calm, and decent adults.
It is the Candidate-jihadist that are the problem
We need to all be the change we want to see

6. Strange how every post like this one, calling for some sanity
Is immediately responded to by someone with an attack agenda. Some people are on autopilot, can't help themselves, or just want attention.

I don't usually even read threads that are clearly attacks, but my Ignore list is growing from responses to good threads like this one.

And that in a way they honestly believe that they are helping their candidate..They just aren't.
They are only acting like asses to perfect strangers.

9. That's how the GOP operates. I hate to see Democrats doing it too.
I just saw Hillary on TV vowing to stay in the race until June no matter what. I sincerely hope if she doesn't win big in Texas, Ohio and Pennsylvania as she needs to, she puts the party ahead of herself and drops out. If she doesn't, she will only have her selfishness to blame if our party is fractured.

10. well, when one side
loses eight contests in a row, soon to be 10, possibly 13, and still attacks the frontrunner, then we'll know who values the party over their own self interests.

13. Heh
a chance for change

If I believed that either Clinton or Obama represented change, I would support them. But I don't, because they don't. This isn't hate; I don't respect either of them that much.

Gridlock McCain and try again in '12.

16. So you don't believe it is even worth giving it a chance?
I have a hard time with this type of thought.
I mean this in the most respectful way.
Why not let them prove you right..Or even better prove you wrong.
They have got to be better than McCain.

22. Best argument I've heard yet
And I will seriously consider voting for Obama, provided that he wins the nomination; it would also help if he would do something like support universal health care or promise to get us out of Iraq, but I'm one of those "fringe wackos", right?

But that's the problem: Obama's policies are inherently conservative.

This is what everyone seems to be missing:

A McCain presidency would be bad, yes, but he is also a wedge in his own party. He won't get that much done if we can get our congressmen to stand up to him, and he has at least some positive ideas (campaign finance reform?), even if he can't be trusted. Also, if he loses, it will be in large part due to the absence of religious voters, who will then be a target audience for the GOP in '12, meaning Huckabee or someone like him will get the nod. If McCain wins, the nutjobs will either fall into line or splinter the GOP; I would call that a win.

On the other hand, Clinton, and to a lesser extent, Obama, represent the same interests, and their positions on issues vary from McCain's only by degree, not kind. Moreover, they would taint our party with support for the Iraq war, etc, and encourage corporate control of the political process; wrong kind of change!

Which is worse, Clinton/Obama now, no change, and an even worse GOP candidate in '12; or McCain now, no change, and maybe we could get a liberal candidate nominated next time?

P.S. Thanks for the civility; we need more of that around here :)

14. I'm an Obama supporter,
but I certainly don't hate Hillary. On the contrary, I think she's a fantastic, highly intelligent person.

I do think her campaign is ill-advising her, and I really feel badly for Hillary. She doesn't deserve all this hate and abuse.

Peace:thumbsup:

Into just plain nastiness. I see you are still trying to bring rationalism to the wilds of GDP (or the prowling wolves of Siberia as I described it in the lounge). You have my sincere admiration for your efforts. Which seem to go over the heads of many here.
BTW...I love your graphic in your sig line. Hilarious.
I'd give you a hug but I don't want your head to explode!:hi:

24. If Clinton becomes the nominee based on swiftboating the Obamas
Edited on Mon Feb-18-08 08:00 PM by Truth Hurts A Lot
If the plagiarism thing (and Michele Obama not patriotic meme) lasts into tomorrow and the rest of the week and Clinton gains an advantage, she won't get my vote.

If the story goes away, and Clinton focuses on the issues and then lands the nomination, I will vote for her (most likely while holding my nose).
