"I'm proud to endorse Hillary Clinton" by Wesley Clark
http://securingamerica.com/ccn/node/12725

Submitted by Wes Clark on September 17, 2007 - 12:10pm.

I’m proud to endorse Hillary Clinton

Today, I am proud to announce my endorsement of Senator Hillary Clinton as President of the United States.

Senator Hillary Clinton has earned the support of millions of Americans in her campaign for president -- and today I am pleased to count myself among them. The world has reached a critical point, and we need a leader in the White House with the courage, intelligence and humility to navigate through many troubling challenges to our security at home and abroad. I believe Senator Clinton is that leader, and I whole-heartedly endorse her for President of the United States. Senator Clinton and I share a worldview in which diplomacy is the best first-strike tool in our arsenal; in today’s complicated global system, the United States should be making more friends than enemies.

Never before have so many Americans had our well-being so closely tied to world events. Our economic and national security has become more complicated than ever before, and we deserve a leader who draws on wisdom, compassion, intelligence and moral courage -- in short, we need Hillary Clinton. She is tough but fair, a rock-solid leader equal to the many weighty challenges ahead of us.

As I make this endorsement today, I realize this may disappoint many of you who hoped that I would run for President myself in 2008. But rest assured: I’m not going anywhere. I’m going to continue to speak out on issues I care about, to work with you to support good Democratic candidates who will help restore the kind of leadership we need in America, to make sure our nation is as secure at home and abroad as it possibly can be.

Your support has been absolutely essential – to our country, to our Democratic candidates, and to me personally. I would never have run for President in 2003 without your support – after all, you drafted me into the race! I can’t tell you how much it means to me that you’ve been standing with me since my campaign for President and right up until now. And we still have so much work to do.

9. Had Wes Clark been our nominee, we would not be having the problems...
and conflicts we endure at the moment.

Wes was my original choice for '04 and would have been again, had he chosen to run this time around.

He would have made a clean candidate without baggage.

Missed opportunities are just that...missed opportunities.

11. I agree completely. I would've caucused for him in '04
had he been running in Iowa. Would've voted for him this year, if that had been an option. I like him. I like him a lot.

20. I think it's worth "recycling" don't you?
It pains me to see the old Clark supporters flogging Hillary here. Since I'm leaning her way now, why not bring it up. He used to rock the Clarkie world here, just sayin' :D

6. Recycling Endorsements is a tactic I've seen employed by the Hillary Camp.
They did it with Kathleen Kennedy and Cantwell's endorsements too.

Just thought the backstabbing of Hillary should stop by his..cough..supporters. Support who you want, doesn't change my Edwards frame of mind. :hi:

Seriously, this is a nice fundraising letter from then, but it is almost a half a year old. Can't you do better than that? What is he saying now? I am sure he is still supporting Hillary, but this isn't much help. Or much worth posting at this point.

16. He should be "drafted" for VP regardless of who wins the nomination
We need to counter McCain's military hero message. We need insurance against the effects of any domestic terrorist attacks. What better man than Wes Clark, a progressive, classy Democrat with management experience who can run as an outsider.

He clearly works well with Hillary. Hopefully he is high on her list for VP.

He is probably the best running mate for Obama, who could benefit by having an anti-war, former general on the ticket.

In any case, no matter who is the eventual nominee, I expect to see Clark campaigning for him/her. Why not have him campaign as a potential VP.

After the Democratic ticket wins, Clark will be of great help to whoever is President.

23. After his speech in Chicago last summer (yearly kos)
I decided he would be an amazing Sec of State. His gift of diplomacy blew me away, many "clarkies" I attended with agreed. A month later, he endorsed Hillary. VP would be great too. He does need to be in somebody's administration, I did want him to be John Edwards' SOS first :D

22. I love and respect Wes
but can't go along with him in supporting Hillary for the nomination. Still, I'm happy for her that she was able to get this endorsement, and am happy for all the Clarkies who are also Hillary supporters.

I'm still sad that he didn't run himself this year.

33. Does anyone remember watching CNN w/ Aaron Brown and Wes Clark sitting in as military strategist
when we began bombing Iraq?!!! What a horrifying experience to watch a war being waged on TV. That's when I first got interested in Wes Clark. He spoke with such clarity and depth, he clearly was against the war.

Wesley Clark Campaigns For Clinton At Madison Stop
Retired General Says Sen. Clinton Is "Tough Person"

POSTED: 12:14 am CST February 17, 2008

MADISON, Wis. -- Madison on Saturday received another visit from a member of the Hillary Rodham Clinton presidential campaign team.

Retired U.S. Gen. Wesley Clark made an appearance at the Dairy Land Café on Saturday, saying that he has no reservations about the ability of the U.S. senator from New York to be the commander-in-chief and to bring the troops home from Iraq.

"It's not about gender. What you're looking for is someone who will do the hard work, who understands the issues, who has sympathy for the troops and their families, and who has the courage to make decisions. She's one tough person," said Clark, who was a presidential hopeful himself....more
