Tale Of Two Mailers
Okay, it isnt a Mailer, but it was slipped under my door. Both the Hillary and Obama Students for Clubs at The University of Wisconsin. The Obama one says Stand for Change, reminds me of the voting time, and on the back gives a map of where my polling place is. Pretty smart. The Hillary one starts out with the words "Hope won't Pay my student loans."

I didnt get past the first line. I ripped up the flier and slipped it back under the door. Not in the mood for the negative attacks at almost 1AM. Sorry Students for Hillary.

2. Theirs is a COMPLETELY negative campaign now.
I've never seen such a dark candidacy for a same-party nomination. "Your guy is hopemonger! He uses platitudes! He stole some speech phrases from his friend! He's inexperienced! He likes Reagan! He can't win states that count! He's disenfranchising voters in Florida!"

"So vote for Clinton--Obama is a dangerous unknown entity, but you KNOW who Hillary is!"

Um, yeah...that's the whole problem, Hill. We DO.

3. Well--it's not like you were "undecided."
And you're likely not frantic about paying your student loans, either--otherwise that line might have resonated with you. All politics is local, after all.

I mean, really. Vote for whosoever you want, that's entirely your choice--but don't act like a couple of fucking FLYERS had anything to do with your decision.

You've not been "in the mood for" voting for Clinton. You're an Obama supporter.

7. Well, I'm watching students asking Clinton questions right now. ON CSPAN.
And she's talking about those loans, and they're listening.

She's talking about discrimination against women, how they make seventy seven cents to the male dollar, and they're listening.

She's talking about ENDA and hate crimes legislation, and they're listening.

I don't want to try to convince someone with an OBAMA logo on their posts to change their mind, I just am a bit offended at the "OOOOH! This 'negative flyer' is the last straw!" routine. Like it mattered.

It wouldn't make a difference what that flyer said, the voter is not disposed to vote for Clinton, and ANYTHING on it would have been found wanting.

It's just insulting to the intelligence of anyone reading here to suggest that the flyer has any impact on a voter who has made up their mind.

Hell, back in the dark ages, I would've loved a candidate who gave a shit about my student loans!

4. I did my GOTV duty 2nite
I was at the local bookstore/coffee bar. Two young ladies (I assume college age - this is a university town) were talking. I heard one of them say; "I like Obama."

I flipped around and said: 'Pardon me, I don't mean to be pushy but I just want to remind you that early voting starts tomorrow."

I then went on to explain how they should also caucus for their candidate on the night of March 4th. The other young woman knew about our crazy Texas primary/caucus hybrid. They thanked me.

That is all :)
