1. Way too sappy...good song, but not for a campaign...
It has to be upbeat and sort of fast paced.

"Beautiful Day" by U2, John Kerry's campaign song was about as good as you can get. I don't want Obama to use it again, though.

Something U2 or Tom Petty would be good.

4. Here's one for Hillary:

The more they know her,

The less they like her,

This crazy feeling,

Just grows and growowowowos!

At least that's how it's playing out in the Texas polls. She's had the state to herself for a week while Obama campaigned in Wisconsin, and you'd have thought it would have given her a bump in the polls, but instead her numbers have dropped.

Or to plagiarize from another duer's recent post:

Barack has the momentum in Texas
by: News
Tue Feb 19, 2008 at 08:14:30 AM CST

Hillary has had Texas all to herself for the last week while Barack has been in Wisconsin preparing for today's primary. Given this head start, you would think that Hillary's Texas poll numbers would have gotten a bump since she's dominated the local headlines.
But ironically enough, it appears that the more Texans see of Hillary, the more Barack's numbers rise.

Just a couple of months ago, Hillary had a 30 point lead in Texas. But the latest polls show Barack is closing the gap...all while Barack has been campaiging in other states. Now that he's arriving in Texas today for rallies in San Antonio and Houston, we expect our momentum to continue as more people get to know Barack.

Here are the latest Texas polls...

SurveyUSA Poll
Obama - 50%
Clinton - 45%

CNN Opinion Research Poll
Clinton - 50%
Obama - 48%

of the Obama campaign.

This is the unofficial Obama campaign song--at my place, that is...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_8IA2Ty7ck

Move on Up - Curtis Mayfield
Hush now child,
and don't you cry
Your folks might understand you
by and by
Move on up
towards your destination
You may find
from time to time
Complications

Bight your lip
and take a trip
Though there may be
wet road ahead
You cannot slip
So move on up
and peace you will find
Into the steeple
of beautiful people
Where there's only one kind

So hush now child
and don't you cry
Your folks might understand you
by and by
Just move on up
and keep on wishing
Remember your dreams
are your only schemes
So keep on pushing
Take nothing less -
not even second best
And do not obey -
you must have your say
You can past the test

Move on up!

15. Great Song...I love Curtis!!!!!
Here's another for Obama:

Rhythm Nation by Janet Jackson (he should adopt this song)

With music by our side
To break the color lines
Lets work together
To improve our way of life
Join voices in protest
To social injustice
A generation full of courage
Come forth with me
People of the world today
Are we looking for a better way of life
We are a part of the rhythm nation
People of the world unite
Strength in numbers we can get it right
One time
We are a part of the rhythm nation

This is the test
No struggle no progress
Lend a hand to help
Your brother do his best
Things are getting worse
We have to make them better
Its time to give a damn
Lets work together come on

People of the world today
Are we looking for a better way of life
We are a part of the rhythm nation
People of the world unite
Strength in numbers we can get it right
One time
We are a part of the rhythm nation

12. "Up Up and Away" by the Fifth Dimension - for the parallel of co-opting the
"revolution" of the 60s.

Explanation - in the midst of the turbulent 60s, the Broadway musical "Hair" (among many sources) was bringing a subversive message to mainstream America. The Fifth Dimension (a nice, acceptable black group of vocalists) first recorded the title song. Then, when their popularity took off, the group switched to the pablum of Up, Up and Away and other tripe. The edge was taken off the movement.

I liken it to BO taking the anger and discontent of the population and foisting his "the republicans are our friends" to prevent any real progress from being made.

May be a bit of a stretch, but having lived through more than 50 years of message manipulation and co-opting by those in power, I do not automatically dismiss any conspiracy theories.
