I suggest a new rule. I'll call it the "Rove Card"
Anytime either side accuses the other of being "Rovian" or somehow attempting to link the opposition to rove, the argument is over and the accuser is automatically dubbed the loser.

1. I think you want to expand Godwin's law to include not only Hitler, but Rove too?
Isn't that rather Rovian of you? (really)

:P

5. LOL
I'm just tired of seeing both sides accuse the other of being Rovian or somehow connected to Rove.

7. um, no. There are times when the allusion is apropos.
just like Godwin's law is bullcrap.

Godwin's law ASSUMES that all references to Nazi Germany are inherently invalid, when such is not the case.

8. Often the allusion is not apropos
It's a simple smear that adds nothing to the discourse and creates a "crying wolf" syndrome where legitimate references to Rove or Rovian tactics are seen as insubstantial.

9. We disagree, then.
Rove made the unfounded viscerally disgusting attack commonplace in american politics...His strategic philosophy is not only vile, but is patently transparent.
When similar strategies are used, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to make the obvious comparison.
