Over used words on DU!!!!

Words that seem to be used constantly for whatever reason here on DU to the point it's either laughable, or makes the words/phrases lose their meaning. Please feel free to add your own.


1) "Jumping the shark"
2) "meme"
3) "misogyny"
4) "Breaking!"
5) "yawn"
6) "Hide the banana" (ok not really, but I hade to mention it because it made me laugh this morning)
7) "disenfranchised"
8) "sexist"
9) "racist"
10) "who would you rather have..."
11) "Kool-Aid"
12) "shrill"


I do not discount what some of these words mean, only the frequency and direction they have been used. Yea, this probably a wasted post, but I never use all three anyway lol.

I could go on further, but the name calling on the board lately, used by both sides, has been really bad. It makes it hard for me to seriously consider the opinion of anyone who stoops to such juvenile tactics.

Why do people have to inform everyone that they have alerted on a thread. To me that just smacks of "I'm so happy to be a hall monitor" geekiness.

Come to think of it those two are probably pretty related because they are so often used together.
