As I predicted last night! MSNBC: Republicans are rallying around McCain like never before.
Edited on Thu Feb-21-08 11:13 AM by Thepricebreaker
As I said last night. This stupid story is only going to rally the republicans around McCain and make him stronger with the GOP.

They hate the NYT. MSNBC just reported republicans are behind him like they have never seen before.

So now McCain is stronger then he was before this story broke.

Even Hukabee said he believes McCain.

Unless the NYT has more - this story did more good then bad for McCain.

4. I'm not so sure. Some top talking heads may
want to stop some McCain bleeding, but will their base be energized by finding out McCain was immoral in that sex-way? I think they will be even more turned off. But who knows. I doubt it will help him in the General election.

6. I was amazed to hear Tucker last night
proclaim that it has been decided that all sex scandals are now off the table-he said there has been some kind of agreement...almost fell off my computer chair after hearing THAT new rule. Of course he forgot to add that they are not to be talked about UNLESS it is about a democrat. As to the rally-that is exactly what is happening-they are all rallying around AGAINST a McCain nomination-this one stinks of a RW hack job-their fingerprints are all over this

8. I don't think so
He looked very weak - and very insecure at the press conference.

And the only one to rally around him would be voting for him anyway.

I would be willing to bet the NYT has more. They would not risk their reputation unless they did.

Edited on Thu Feb-21-08 11:24 AM by Thepricebreaker
Haven't you already seen how the story has changed? its all about how the NYT saved it, etc.

They arent talking about the story - they are talking about if its a smear.

ALL the McCain haters on the right (the big ones) have come to his defense.

14. McCain has the backing of GHWB... that should mean something to you..
and the endorsement was made with great fanfare..

If Obama is the nominee, we have set ourself up for failure... The msnbc, Cnn, and Faux News has played everyone for fools thinking Obama should be the Dem nominee... and of course he shouldn't be if we expect having a Dem President..

Here is a thread subsequently LOCKED explaining what the GOP will do to destroy Obama and our chances as well of having a DEM president..

21. I find your hatred of Obama amusing in that your giving McCain a pass and flailing hysterically
about Obama. If Hillary loses what are you going to do with yourself? Are you going to cry in the corner? keep sabatoging Obama? I think so. I think you hate Obama waaaaay more than McCain just b/c hes beating Hillary. You are a sad sad person and I feel very sorry for you. You are petty/childish/disgusting democrat. The worst kind of democrat, and no better than a repug. Actually I wouldn't even call you a democrat b/c if you really were one, you wouldn't be saying such hateful things about another democrat.

18. they're either voting for Obama or sitting this one out if HRC gets the nomination
McCain would have been smart to leak this out himself. Plausible deniability, the "victim card" that some of ya'll revel in, not alot of legs and will probably be forgotten in 2 weeks...

13. Won't help
They can rally all they want. The voters want them out and will come to the polls in droves to make it happen. Please release more of these "rallying" articles.

17. Now That I've Heard Rush's Statement I'm Convinced That This Is......
a Rovian ploy to rally the party. After this blows over it might also inoculate McCain against any Dem attacks against him. I don't think that the NYT was in on this. I think they've been played. It will be interesting to see how this plays out now. I only hope that both Hillary and Barack stay a long way away from this story and not make any comments tonight at the debate. You know that Russert is going to hit them on this.

Also - with respect to Tucker saying that sex lives are not fair game anymore surprised me as well. We need to get to the bottom of that one. Who made up that rule and why? What does Larry Flynt have to say about all this. I can't wait until he weighs in on this.

25. This story has majorly pissed off
even moderate republicans from what I'm hearing. Even Huckabee stood up for McCain.

I predict far fewer republicans crossing the aisle to vote for Obama now....they will vote for McCain to show support for the republican party.
