Clinton attacks Obama ahead of debate
Edited on Thu Feb-21-08 07:35 PM by Danieljay
"I want you to think, 'Who do you want to have in the White House answering the phone at 3 o'clock in the morning when some crisis breaks out around the world?"' Clinton asked a heavily Hispanic crowd at a rally in downtown Laredo.

'Who is best prepared to be commander in chief on day one?"' she added, pushing her latest line of attack on Obama in their hard-fought duel to be the Democratic candidate in November's presidential election.

Personally, my answer is "not you, Hillary". How about Al Gore, John Edwards, or even Obama?

That's why politicians need thick skins, I guess.

11. Has Obama ever run against a strong GOP candidate?
My guess would be no. He has no idea what that experience will be like, something undecided voters should think about.

41. Yes, Rick Lazio
Very well funded "boy wonder" of the GOP and Asst. Majority Leader in Congress. That was a tough race, he ran dirty, but she won anyway.

and John Spencer

23. Yes. Before his Senate opponent dropped out
Obama was running ahead of him. Unlike Hillary, who was struggling against Rudy. And Hillary has only had Lazio and some token mayor of Yonkers who ran against her in 2006. Not to mention that she's running the Titanic of all campaigns- big, expensive and doesn't hold up. She hit the iceberg Obama and she's taking on water fast. And you want her to go up against the pukes? Wow. That's ignoring reality.

a couple months before the election. It's a lie that it was a pre-ordained rout.

44. GOP put a lot of money into Lazio's race
He had every celebrity GOP'er they could come up with helping him out, attacked her for being a "carpetbagger". It was a very tough race, but she did very well. That's why I think she'll win this one, too.

is because everybody already knew the repub would be a sacrificial lamb for Obama.

19. Honestly
I don't understand some people here. Is there ANYTHING a candidate can say to differentiate him or herself from the other candidate without somebody here decrying it as an attack, or claiming it's unfair?

I swear, some people just started following politics yesterday.

25. Hillary probably would be awake at 3AM wondering where Bill is...
...so I could see her point.

However, being a warmonger like she is, she is the LAST PERSON I want answering the phone at 3 o'clock in the morning when some crisis breaks out.

Snarkin' right back at ya, Hillary...

35. When a crisis breaks out around the world...
Obama would look at all the evidence and take a reasoned approach.

Clinton would look at her poll ratings and go with the "I must prove I'm as warlike as any Repuke" approach.

Hillary... never ask a question you don't know the answer to! Didn't they teach you that in law school?

47. How is this an attack?
I am so tired of his supporters, spokespeople, and the M$M playing the 'victim card' on Obama's behalf - citing relatively benign statements as attacks when it comes from Clinton, but giving Obama's folks a pass. For example: when his campaign manager 'attacks' the Clinton campaign as 'lunatics', etc. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0208/8604.html, etc.

First caucuses are unfair (Clinton folks are doing something underhanded) then they are wonderful (Obama's winning them) ... Plouffe

“You challenge the status quo and suddenly the claws come out,” Obama said. But, BC's fairy tale comment is racist.

It's called campaigning - and, it's been a lot dirtier in the past.

Plouffe's good, I'll give him that. He set the stage months ago to positively campaign negatively. Probably a good thing against the GOP - but, I don't think they'll be much of a challenge in any event.

He kind of reminds me of a young James Carville.
